Yes, I am a mechanical student pursuing last year. I am prepare for GATE 2020. but I wanted to ask you that, actually I have a 3-year gap in academics so, even if I am getting good marks in GATE 2020, will my gap effect to get a good positional job in the industry?

Rehan Alam Student Expert 16th Nov, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

Mos of the recruiters allows a academic gap of 3 years at maximum. So if you have 3 years of academic gap, then you will be okay with most of the companies. However, if you have total gap more than that then it will shrink your opportunities but that does not mean you'll not get a job. It is just some recruiters won't allow you.

Hope this helps. Thank you.

Aman Raj Student Expert 15th Nov, 2019

Hello Shikha

In order to take the GATE exam, you have to have to have a graduation degree of at least four years.

In your case: B Sc. (Research)/ B.S.- Bachelor’s degree in Science (Post-Diploma/ 4 years after 10+2)

So it is has to be either B.Sc Research or if you have done BS from IISER, then you will be eligible to write the GATE exam.
