GATE Eligibility Criteria 2021 - IIT Bombay has announced the relaxation in GATE 2021 eligibility criteria due to COVID-19 situation. Candidates in their pre-final year of undergraduate degree will also be eligible for GATE 2021. The detailed eligibility criteria of GATE 2021 consist of parameters like age limit, academic qualification, nationality and more. Candidates have to meet the GATE eligibility 2021 in order to appear for the GATE exam. There is no age limit to apply for GATE exam 2021. This year, candidates from arts and humanities background will also be eligible to appear in GATE 2021 Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) and Humanities and Social Science (XH) papers.

Candidates have to fulfil the GATE eligibility criteria 2021 failing which, they will not be allowed to appear for the national level engineering postgraduate entrance test. Therefore, candidates are suggested to refer to the GATE eligibility criteria before filling the forms. The eligibility criteria of GATE 2021 state that candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MHRD/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Planning etc. Also, candidates who registered for certification equivalent to B.E./B.Tech from any of the professional societies will also be eligible for GATE 2021. What if Candidate is Pursuing Qualifying Degree from Another Country?
There may be cases where candidates have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India. In such cases, following GATE 2021 eligibility criteria will be followed:
Candidates must have completed or are in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (duration of course should be at least 4 years)
Candidates must have completed or are in the final year of their postgraduate degree in any relevant subjects in science (duration of course should be at least 2 years)
Note: If a candidate is pursuing any higher degree or has already obtained a degree higher than that mentioned in the above table 1, the candidate should select the minimum required qualifying degree while filling the application form of GATE 2021.
Document Required to Support GATE 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for GATE 2021 will be required to upload certain documents to support the eligibility criteria of GATE 2021. The eligibility criteria certificates have to be uploaded while filling the application form. Mentioned below are some important points related to eligibility documents to be uploaded by candidates:
Candidates who will complete the mentioned qualifying examinations in 2020 or earlier, will be required to submit the degree certificate/provisional degree certificate/course completion certificate/membership certificate as issued by the designated authorities.
If a candidate is expected to complete the qualifying criteria in 2021 or later, then he/she has to upload their Provisional Certificate Letter (as issued by the Head of the Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department) or a copy of marks card for Section A of AMIE, etc.
PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category candidates will be required to upload a PwD certificate issued by a recognized authority. Candidates who have at least 40% impairment irrespective of the kind of disability will only be provided concession in the application fee. Candidates will also be required to submit the certificate at the allotted institute at the time of admission.
Candidates with backlogs (failed subjects) in any of the subjects in their qualifying examination will have to upload a copy of any of the marksheet of the final year issued from the institute where he/she was pursuing their qualifying examination. It has to be noted that the internet downloaded marksheet will not be accepted under any circumstances.
SC/ST category candidates will have to upload a valid document proof to avail a concession in the application fee. Certificates issued by authorized officials will only be considered for concession.
Dyslexic candidates will be required to submit a certificate stating the same issued by authorities in order to get the services of a scribe.
Note: GATE 2021 eligibility certificate, as applicable, has to be uploaded only while filling the online application form and not to be sent by post.

Admission in M.Tech courses - GATE Eligibility Criteria 2021
GATE qualified candidates will be offered admissions in M.Tech courses at different IITs, NITs, IIITs and some CFTIs. There will be no separate counselling process for GATE 2021. Instead, candidates will have to apply separately for different counselling processes. For admission in M.Tech courses in IITs, candidates will have to register through COAP which will be carried out separately. Candidates seeking admissions in NITs, IIITs and some CFTIs, they will have to apply through Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT).

Hello candidate,
The GATE examination is very important for getting admission into m tech courses in some of the prestigious Institutions of the country, and getting job opportunities in public sector companies or PSUs.
The company shortlist the candidates on the basis of their GATE score, and overall academic record and call for interview rounds. If the candidate gets selected in this interview Rounds, then only he gets final selection.
