National Institutes of Technology (NITs) provide admission to diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes. The eligibility criteria vary depending on the course and branch that the candidate chooses. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to Diploma, UG, PG and Ph.D programmes are mentioned below:
Diploma: Candidates must have passed the class 10th or equivalent examination with an aggregate of 35% marks in Science and Maths subjects from a recognised board.
B.E/B.Tech: Candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects. They must have secured an aggregate of 75% or above in the qualifying exam from a recognised board (there is relaxation for other category students).
M.E/MTech: Candidates must have completed their B.E/B.Tech degree in Engineering/Technology from any recognised university in the concerned discipline with a valid score in GATE are eligible for admission to M.E/M.Tech course.
Ph.D: Candidates should have passed the master’s degree and secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA of 6.5/10 for admission to Ph.D programme.
