Questions related to GATE

Hello,

Yes, you can apply for admission to a B.Sc. in Computer Science program with your 80% in the Science stream. Here's a breakdown:

  • Eligibility : Most universities and colleges require students to have completed their 12th grade with a science background (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) for B.Sc. Computer Science.

  • Admission Criteria :

    • Cut-off marks : Admission often depends on the cut-off percentage, which varies by institution. With 80%, you stand a good chance in many reputed colleges.
    • Entrance Exams : Some universities conduct entrance exams for admission, so check if the institution you are applying to has one.
  • Course Duration : Typically, a B.Sc. in Computer Science is a 3-year undergraduate program.

  • Specializations : Some universities may offer specializations in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Software Engineering within the course.

  • Application Process : Keep an eye on the admission deadlines and required documents for each institution.

Ensure to research specific colleges for their eligibility and entrance requirements.

Hello,

Having a variation in your name on the GATE scorecard and academic records, such as your 10th marksheet, may lead to some problems during admission processes at IITs. Normally, consistency in all documents is expected.

Things to do:

Contact Institution: Contact the admissions offices of the IITs that you are applying to explain the situation. They would advise you on their minor name variation policies.

Affidavit or name clarification: You may even have to draft an affidavit stating that MUPPURI SIVAKRISHNA and MUPPURI SIVA KRISHNA are one and the same. This avoids confusion during verification.

Notarized documents: A declaration or supporting document, usually in the possession of a notarized version, would be quite helpful.

This way, if a solution exists to this prior to admitting a child, a smooth process will be accomplished.

A person with a valid GATE score more than 700 get call for interview and rank under 2k in most of the IITs in CS candidates can apply to some other departments too, but that depends on the course being offered by the institute and the individuals interest.

Sometimes rank below this are also get call for interview in new ones but several factors such as the cutoff ranks for different institutes, the number of seats available, and the competition in the particular year changes cutoff every year.

Unfortunately, you are not eligible to pursue an MTech program at an IIT after completing an MBA (Distance) and a BVoc.

Here's why:

  • Eligibility Criteria: IITs typically require candidates to have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology (BTech/BE) from a recognized university. While BVoc is a vocational degree, it doesn't usually meet the engineering requirements for MTech admission.
  • MBA as a Prerequisite: While an MBA can be beneficial for career advancement, it's not generally considered a suitable prerequisite for an MTech program, which is focused on technical and engineering skills.

If you're interested in pursuing an MTech, you might consider:

  • Retaking a BTech or BE: If you have the time and resources, you could consider re-enrolling in an engineering program to obtain a BTech or BE degree.
  • Exploring Other Options: There are other graduate programs available, such as MS or M.Phil., that might be suitable based on your specific interests and qualifications.

It's always advisable to consult with the specific IITs you're interested in for their exact eligibility criteria and any potential exceptions. They can provide you with more tailored guidance based on your individual situation.

I hope this information helps you.

Similar to government colleges, a score of 353 might not be sufficient to secure admission into an NIT, especially for competitive programs. There can be reservations for specific categories, so the general cut-off might be higher for the general category.
