  • Registration: The first and foremost step to apply for the GATE exam is the registration. Candidates have to provide details such as their name, email ID and contact number. Upon completion of the GATE 2026 registration, a unique enrollment ID and password will be generated.

  • Form filling: Applicants will have to log in to the GOAPS portal using their enrollment ID to fill out the GATE application form. Candidates have to provide the details regarding their personal information, education qualifications, subject in which they are appearing.

IIT Guwahati has released the GATE 2026 exam notification. Based on the GATE notification, the registration process has commenced on August 28, 2025 and will end on September 28, 2025. Candidates who wish to apply for exam have to meet the GATE 2026 IIT Guwahati eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for GATE exam 2026 specify certain conditions that have to be met to appear for the exam.

  • Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of India. Moreover, NRIs who fulfil the eligibility conditions can also appear for IIT Guwahati GATE 2026.

What is GATE?

GATE full form is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is a national-level entrance examination conducted once a year.
