    CUSAT M.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2026

    The eligibility criteria of CUSAT M.Tech 2026 include certain conditions that all applicants must meet to be eligible for admission. The detailed CUSAT M.Tech 2026 eligibility criteria is available below:

    General Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates must have completed their B.Tech/ B.E./ B.Sc engineering degree in their respective discipline from any University of Kerala or any other equivalent exam with at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-pointer scale.

    • Students must have qualified GATE exam with a valid score. GATE score will not be required for candidates seeking admission in M.Tech Marine Biotechnology. Such candidates will have to qualify for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT-B).

    • Non-GATE-qualified candidates can appear for the CUSAT Department Admission Test (DAT) that will be conducted for admissions on specified dates.

    • B.Tech./B.E./AMIE/AMIETE Degree in Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology / Electronics and Communication / Electrical and Electronics /Biomedical Instrumentation/ MCA /Post Graduate Degree in Maths / Physics / Statistics / Computer Science / Electronics with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale or equivalent) or 60% marks in the absence of CGPA grading, from any recognized University or Institution.

    • A valid GATE Score in qualifying branch.

    • In the absence of GATE qualified candidates, Non Gate candidates can be admitted on the basis of a Departmental Admission Test (DAT) using GATE Computer Science Syllabus conducted by the Department / School.

    Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering)

    • A valid GATE score in the concerned branch of study.

    • If a sufficient number of candidates with GATE score in the concerned branch of study are not available, candidates with GATE score in Instrumentation will be considered. If a sufficient number of GATE score holders are not available a pass in the Departmental Admission Test is sufficient.

    Data Science and Analytics

    • Pass in M.Sc. (Statistics/Mathematics/Computer Science)/M.C.A. or equivalent to any of this approved by this University with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/ 10 or equivalent grade. OR

    • Pass in B.Tech. or equivalent in any discipline with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10 or equivalent grade.

    • Admission is based on a Departmental Admission Test.

    Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Cyber Security

    • Shall have passed B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Computer Science and Engineering or Electronics and Communication or Information Technology branch or M.C.A., with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale from any recognised University in Kerala or any other University/ Institution accepted by the University as equivalent thereto.

    • In the absence of a sufficient number of candidates with GATE scores, candidates without GATE scores shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.

    Information Technology with specialization in Business Analytics and Intelligence

    • B.Tech. / B.E. / B.Sc.Engineering Degrees / AMIE in any discipline with a first class (60%) from any recognised University or institution /M.C.A. /M.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology/Electronics, from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 60% marks / 6.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale or equivalent)

    • A valid GATE score.

    • In the absence of a sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE scores shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.

    Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering)

    • Shall have passed B. Tech./B.E/B.Sc. Engineering Degree Examination in Mechanical, Automobile, Aerospace, Aeronautical branch with a minimum of 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent hitherto, candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE or similar equivalent examinations in the branches mentioned above with a minimum of 60% of marks shall also be eligible and

    • A valid GATE score.

    • In the absence of a sufficient number of candidates with GATE scores, candidates without GATE scores shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.

    Industrial Safety (Health Safety and Environment Management)

    • B.E/B.Tech./B.Sc. Engg. Degree awarded by AICTE/UGC approved Universities and Institutes/Institutes of National Importance like IITs, NITs and lIEST in any branch of Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

    • In the absence of a sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered based on their performance in the Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

    • A valid GATE score.

    • Two seats are reserved for candidates with B.Tech. Degree in Safety & Fire Engineering / B.E. Degree in Fire Engineering. The candidates are selected through Departmental Admission Test (DAT), if such candidates are not available, these two seats shall be filled as per normal rules

    Geotechnical Engineering

    • Shall have passed B. Tech./B.E/B.Sc. Engineering Degree Examination in Civil Engineering branch with a minimum 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.

    • The Candidates who have passed Sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Civil branch shall be eligible.

    • A valid GATE Score.

    • In the absence of the sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.

    Structural Engineering

    • Shall have passed B.Tech./B.E/B.Sc. Engineering Degree Examination in Civil Engineering branch with a minimum 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.

    • The Candidates who have passed Sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Civil branch shall be eligible.

    • A valid GATE Score.

    • In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing a Departmental Admission Test.

    Instrumentation Technology

    • B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Instrumentation/ Instrumentation Technology / Instrumentation and Control/ Applied Electronics and Instrumentation/ Electronics and Instrumentation/ Electronics and Communication/ Electrical and Electronics or M.Sc. Degree in Instrumentation/ Electronics with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale from any recognized University or Institution.

    • A valid GATE score (in the concerned branch of study) or pass in Departmental Admission Test if sufficient number of GATE score holders are not available.

    • For sponsored candidates, in addition to the above two conditions, 3 years teaching/research experience in Govt/Quasi Govt. institutions or 3 years’ experience in the Public Sector Units/ Public Ltd companies.

    Marine Biotechnology

    • The candidates having a minimum 60% mark or equivalent CGPA (under the grading system) from any recognized university in B.Tech. or B.E. in Biotechnology/M.Sc. in any branch of Life Science including Marine Biology along with a valid GAT-B Score in the examination conducted in the current year are eligible to apply for admission to M.Tech Marine Biotechnology programme.

    CUSAT M.Tech Application Form 2026

    The authorities released the CUSAT 2026 M.Tech application form on the official website. Candidates have to submit the application form before the last date.     Step 3: Uploading Scanned Documents - In this step of the CUSAT M.Tech application process, candidates are required to upload scanned copies of their photographs and signatures in the prescribed format. The given documents have to be uploaded in below given format.

    • Online Mode: For online payment of the CUSAT M.Tech application fee, candidates can pay through Credit / Debit Cards/UPI or Net banking. After this step, applicants have to proceed further by clicking on the ‘Submit’ button. Next, candidates have to enter their date of birth in the “Validation Date” box and their date of birth in the “Fee Reference Number” box.     CUSAT 2026 MTech Counselling Process

    Candidates have to register for CUSAT M.Tech counselling to be eligible for admission to the institute. The counselling process of CUSAT M.Tech Admission 2026 involves the below-given steps:

    Step 1 - Option Entry: Candidates who have filled out the application form will have to log in to the candidate portal using a valid login id and password. After successful login, candidates will be required to select their category from Keralite or Non-Keralite. Next, candidates will have to select courses and colleges in order of their preference. Applicants are advised to select the maximum number of entries so they can get the best colleges and courses as per their preference. Applicants can also change and edit their preferences before the last date of option entry.

    Step 2 - Allotment of Seats: After the option entry is complete, the authority releases a list of candidates who have been allotted seats in specific courses. Students whose names will appear on the list will have to check the schedule for the further admission process which will include document verification, fee payment etc. Students must note that the authorities will not issue any call letter for candidates.

    Step 3 - Reporting to Counselling Venue: Students who have been allotted seats will have to be present physically at the counselling venue. Candidates will have to get registered within the given time frame at the counselling venue.

    Step 4 - Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted for admissions will have to bring all the required documents in original along with two sets of attested copies. Candidates who fail to bring the required documents will be deemed ineligible for admission. Students have to carry the following documents for verification of CUSAT M.Tech admission 2026.

    Step 5 - Fee Payment: After getting their documents verified, candidates will have to collect the fee challan. Next, the candidates will have to pay the required fee at the SBT counter. Students can make the fee payment through demand draft, cash, credit/ debit card, and RTGS funds transfer facility.

    Step 6 - Provisional Admission Letter: Candidates can get their provisional admission letter after producing their fee payment challan that has been paid. Students must note that students will also be allowed to use higher option cancellation facilities after collecting their provisional admission letter. Candidates can use this facility only once during the entire admission procedure.
