    GATE 2027 Exam Schedule: IIT Madras has announced the GATE exam 2027 exam dates on the official portal. gate2027.iitm.ac.in. As per the schedule, the GATE 2026 exam is scheduled to be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 & 21, 2026. The candidates can refer to the complete schedule of GATE 2027 exam dates on this page. The GATE 2027 registration will start on August 14, 2026 on Friday. To beef up the examination process and ensure greater security, IIT Madras has introduced the Digilocker-based registration with facial authentication this year. The revised syllabus of GATE 2027 has been updated online. The GATE 2026 exam registration will be available till September 21, 2026 (without any late fee).

    GATE 2026 Registration Start Dates: The authority has announced the GATE exam registration dates 2027 on July 20, 2026. As per the update, the registration for GATE 2027 will commence on August 14, 2026. The Indian nationals may need to register through DigiLocker, for other nationals they must first register by providing full name (as per the valid photo ID, which candidate MUST bring in original while appearing for GATE 2027 examination at the examination centre), a valid email address, mobile number and by choosing a password.

    GATE 2027 Highlights

    • Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) is the Organizing Institute (OI) for GATE 2027. The official website of GATE 2027 is gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

    • GATE 2027 will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) and will be held for 30 test papers.

    • GATE 2027 Test Paper Syllabus has been updated. Applicants are requested to check the syllabus.

    • Please note the changes in paper codes for sectional papers XE, XH, XL from GATE 2027.

    • GATE 2027 has added a new test paper that is related to Robotics & Automation (RA). Candidates must remember that the TEF Science paper will be part of a sectional paper of GATE 2027 XE9 (XE: TEFS).

    • GATE 2027 Test Papers will be given in English.

    • Every UG Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities degree program (3rd year and above) student/graduate from an affiliated college/institute or recognized university is eligible to appear for GATE 2027 exam.

    • Candidate who is studying in the 5th/6th/7th Semester or above Semester of M.B.B.S./B.D.S./B.V.Sc./B.Sc. (Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry) or obtained M.B.B.S./B.D.S./B.V.Sc./B.Sc. (Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry) Degree is also eligible for appearing in the GATE 2027 Examination.

    • It is recommended to register in DigiLocker (verified) to have a smooth process during application registration and at the exam centres.
