QnA related to JEE Advanced

Ask your question related to JEE Advanced

Yes, you are eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.

You passed Class 12 in 2024 (CBSE) but didn’t meet the 75% requirement, so you reappeared through NIOS in 2025 and scored 75%. Since NIOS is a recognized board and you now meet the 75% eligibility, you’re allowed to appear for JEE Advanced in 2026. Also, JEE Advanced allows attempts in the year of passing 12th and the following year. So as long as you qualify JEE Main 2026 and are in the top 2.5 lakh candidates, you’re eligible.

Hello Rohit,

Yes, you can apply for JEE Main in 2026 with your diploma. But keep in mind:

  1. That JEE Main is for those diploma holders wanting to qualify for JEE Advanced, not direct admission into IITs.
  2. That your Class 12 pass-out year (2021) does not stop your JEE Advanced attempts if you are going the diploma route. JEE Advanced allows diploma holders to attempt it. However, the Advaced route is only for admission through clearing JEE Advanced - not through JEE Main ranks.
  3. If you clear the JEE Advanced then you can get admission in IITs, but it would be as a first year (1st year B.Tech) - there is no lateral entry for IITs.
  4. There shouldn't be any problems with your 12th pass-out year, since diploma holders are considered separately for JEE Advanced eligibility.

Hello aspirant,

Congratulations on your performance in both JEE Main and JEE Advanced. With a JEE Main rank of around 11,200, you stand a decent chance of getting branches like CSE (in newer IIITs), ECE, Mechanical, or related streams in NITs such as NIT Calicut, NIT Nagpur, and NIT Rourkela, depending on your category and home state. Your JEE Advanced rank of 8,700 may fetch you seats in some of the newer IITs or less core branches in older ones like IIT BHU or IIT ISM Dhanbad.

If you're unsure about which college or branch to choose, it’s a good idea to first make a list of your priorities—like your preferred branch, location, research or placement focus—and then look at previous year cutoffs for those colleges. You can also use college predictors based on your rank to get a clearer idea of your options.

Hope this helps you take the next step confidently. All the best for your counselling and future journey.

dear student,

If you are giving the re-exam for Mathematics and you pass it, you will become eligible for IIT admission , provided you meet all other criteria (such as minimum percentage or top 20 percentile in your board for your category). IITs require you to have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in your 12th board exams.

However, you must submit your passing certificate and marksheet before the IIT admission deadline. If your re-exam results are declared and you pass before the document verification/counselling process ends, you can take admission in IIT. If your results come after the admission process is over, you will not be eligible for this year and may have to try again next year.

dear student,

At an SC rank of 4276 in JEE Advanced , getting into older IITs (like Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur) isn’t possible — even for less popular branches, these usually close below SC rank 2000–2500.

But you still have good chances in newer IITs and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad , especially for core branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical , and a few interdisciplinary programs.
like:

  • IIT Bhilai – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical

  • IIT Jammu – Civil, Mechanical, Chemical

  • IIT Dharwad – Civil, Mechanical

  • IIT Goa – Mechanical, possibly Civil in later rounds

  • IIT Palakkad / Tirupati – Civil, Mechanical

  • IIT ISM Dhanbad – Mining, Petroleum, Environmental, Civil, Interdisciplinary

  • IIT Jodhpur – Sometimes Civil or lesser opted branches

These options mostly open up in later JoSAA rounds , and availability may vary slightly year to year.

Hello,

In JEE Advanced , the OBC-NCL women's rank is typically lower than the overall OBC-NCL rank. If a candidate's overall OBC-NCL rank is 11051 , their rank within the OBC-NCL women category could be around 1051 - 2105 depending on the number of women candidates in that category.

Thank you!!

Hi aspirant,

For a JEE Advance rank of 5,000 or between 5,000 and 10,000, candidates can consider IITs like,

  • IIT Mandi - Electrical engineering
  • IIT Ropar - Mechanical Engineering
  • IIT Hyderabad - Engineering Science
  • IIT Tirupati - CSE
  • IIT Hyderabad - Engineering Physics
  • IIT Bombay - Chemistry (B. Sc)
  • IIT Guwahati - Chemical Engineering
  • IIT BHU Varanasi - Civil Engineering
  • IIT Delhi - Textile Technology
  • IIT Kanpur - Bioengineering
  • IIT Gandhinagar - Chemical engineering
  • IIT Jodhpur - Electrical Engineering
  • IIT Hyderabad - Civil Engineering
  • IIT Patna - Electrical Engineering
  • IIT Palakkad - CSE
  • IIT Guwahati - Engineering Physics
  • IIT Roorkee - Metallurgical Engineering
  • IIT Goa - CSE
  • IIT BHU Varanasi - Chemical engineering
  • IIT Kharagpur - Biotechnology & Biochemical
  • IIT Kharagpur - Mining Engineering
  • IIT Kharagpur - Ocean Eng. & Naval Arch.
  • IIT Guwahati - Civil Engineering
  • IIT Madras - Naval & Ocean Engineering
  • IIT Jodhpur - Mechanical Engineering
  • IIT Mandi - Mechanical Engineering
  • IIT Kanpur - Chemistry (B. Sc)
  • IIT Gandhinagar - Civil Engineering
  • IIT Jammu - CSE

These are not 100% accurate so you just have chances to get into one of these. You may want to check the cutoffs individually. This is a rough figure for you because at the end it depends on various factors like the cutoffs, no, of candidates and etc. Below mentioned is the link where you can find more details about which colleges you might get under this rank. Kindly refer to it.

I hope this helps.

HEY THERE!!!

  1. If you encounter an "incorrect data" error while checking your JEE Advanced 2025 result, first verify that all your entered details—such as your roll number and date of birth—are accurate.
  2. If the issue persists, consider accessing the site through a different browser, as technical glitches can sometimes be browser-specific.
  3. Should the problem continue, it is advisable to contact the official JEE Advanced helpdesk for further assistance.

Hey! That sounds frustrating, but don’t worry — sometimes the result page shows "incorrect data" due to small issues like mismatched details or server glitches.

First, double-check the following:

  • Your JEE Advanced roll number is entered exactly as it appears on your admit card.

  • Make sure your date of birth format matches what they ask (usually DD-MM-YYYY).

  • Enter the mobile number or email ID exactly like you used during registration.

If everything is correct and it’s still not working, it might be a temporary issue with the website. Try clearing your browser cache or using a different device or browser. Sometimes the servers are overloaded right after results are released.

If the issue continues, it’s best to contact the JEE Advanced helpdesk through the official contact details given in your admit card or brochure. They can reset or verify your login.

Hope it gets sorted soon! Good luck!

Oh wow, 15,906 in JEE Advanced, huh? Not bad at all! But yeah, let’s be real—getting CSE or ECE in the old-school IITs? That’s… probably not happening this round. Still, don’t sweat it. There’s a whole bunch of solid options out there, especially in the newer IITs and those hybrid branches nobody ever talks about at family gatherings.

So, what’s on the table? Check these out:

- IIT Bhilai

- IIT Goa

- IIT Jammu

- IIT Dharwad

- IIT Palakkad

- IIT Tirupati

And the branches? You’re looking at stuff like:

- Metallurgical & Materials Engineering (don’t let the name scare you, it’s cooler than it sounds)

- Chemical Engineering

- Civil Engineering

- Engineering Physics

- Environmental Science & Engineering

- Energy Science

- Mechanical in the 5-year dual degree (yeah, it’s long, but you get two degrees, so…)

Speaking of dual degrees, those 5-year B.Tech + M.Tech combos can be a sneaky good move. They boost your placement game since you walk out with a master’s too. Mechanical, Civil, Materials Science—they’re all up for grabs in the newer IITs if you’re not super picky.

And don’t sleep on the interdisciplinary stuff. Some IITs have branches like Engineering Design, or even new-age stuff like Artificial Intelligence or Data Science (if the cutoffs aren’t totally bonkers this year).

One pro-tip: punch your details into the Careers360 JEE Advanced College Predictor. It does the math for you and spits out where you stand based on your category, gender, and whatnot. Way easier than guessing.

If you wanna get super specific, drop your category and gender, and I can help you hunt down the best options. Anyway, good luck at counselling! May the odds (and cutoffs) be ever in your favor. https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-advanced-college-predictor
