GATE Application Form 2019 – Candidates can request for the change in exam paper of GATE 2019 from October 17 to 23. The request will be effective only after successful payment of the fee made by the candidate. Indian candidates has to pay Rs 300 while $10 has to be paid by foreign people. IIT Madras has opened the correction window for GATE 2019 application form on September 27 in online mode. Candidates who want to change/modify or edit any details in application form of GATE 2019 can do it in online mode. However, candidates cannot edit or modify all the details in application form. The application process of GATE 2019 is closed. The last date to fill and submit the application form of GATE 2019 without late fee was September 23. Candidates who had filled application form of GATE 2019 after 23 had to pay a late fee of Rs 500 (USD 20 for centres abroad). The GATE application form 2019 was released on August 31, 2018. To fill the GATE application form 2019, the candidates had to register through GOAPS. While filling the GATE 2019 application form, valid information about the personal, academic and contact details had to be submitted by the candidates. The required application fee also had to be paid through online mode.

Before filling the application form of GATE 2019, the candidates were advised to read through the eligibility criteria. Things to Keep Ready Before Filling GATE Application Form 2019 

All of the candidates were requested to keep the following documents and information ready before filling the GATE 2019 application form.

  • Scanned photograph and signature of the candidate

  • Personal Details and Address for Communication (including PIN Code) Details

  • Eligibility Degree details

  • GATE paper (subject) and choice of exam cities

  • Net banking/credit card/debit card details for payment of fee

  • Valid Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address). The identity proof required by foreign students are Passport/Government Issued ID/College ID/Employee ID.

  • Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Course Completion Certificate (Candidates who have completed their graduation in 2018 or earlier)

  • Copy of Mark Sheet of the fifth or sixth or seventh semester as the case may be (Candidates who are in their final year).

  • Final year students will also have to submit their Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department

  • Candidates in final year of AMIE will have to keep ready their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable) as per given format

  • Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable)

  • Candidates who were pursuing higher degree or masters had to submit the qualifying degree certificate or provisional one.

  • Candidates with backlogs had to upload copy of any of the mark sheet of the final year issued by the institute where they are studying.

Important: Internet downloaded marks sheet were not accepted. 

How to Fill GATE Application Form 2019? 

To be successfully registered for the examination, the candidates had to fill and submit the application form of GATE 2019 and submit it before the final date. The given steps had to be followed by the candidates to be registered for GATE 2019:

  • Registration through GOAPS
  • GOAPS Login to Fill GATE Application Form
  • Uploading of Required Documents
  • Preview of Filled Application Form
  • Payment of Application Fees
  • Submission of Filled Application Form

Step 1 – Registration through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) 

Registration: Firstly, candidates had to register through GOAPS by providing their full name, valid email ID and mobile number. The submitted email ID and mobile number must be valid in nature since all communications related to the examination will be sent through this medium. International candidates will be communicated through email.

Enrollment Number: After registration, an enrollment number was provided to the candidates through SMS and email. The enrollment number is very important as it will be required later.

OTP: An OTP was also be sent to the registered mobile number for verification.

Password: A password also had to be chosen and set by the candidates. The selected password had to be unique and not be known to others. 

Step 2 – Filling of GATE 2019 Application Form 

Next, candidates had to fill the application form of GATE 2019 with personal, academic and other required details. Candidates had to login using their enrollment number and password and click on “Start the GATE 2019 Application” button. The following details had to be provided: 

Personal Details – The candidates had to enter details such as their name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, name of the father/mother and more. It was remembered that the details filled in the application form had to be similar to the qualifying degree certificate or the certificate issued by the Head of the Department/Institute in which the candidate was pursuing his/her study.

Academic Details – Information regarding the undergraduate degree details of the candidate along without other required information had to be submitted in the GATE application form 2019. A scanned copy of the eligibility certificate in PDF format also had to be submitted by the candidates.

Contact Details – Next, the candidates had to provide their address and contact information.

GATE Paper – The selection of GATE Paper had to be done by the candidates.

GATE Exam Centres - While selecting the exam centres, the candidates were able to select two GATE centres from their zone and one from another zone.

Photo Identity Proof – Candidates had to submit the details regarding their photo identity proof. One valid identity proof had to be selected by the candidates which had to be produced during the examination. 

Step 3 – Uploading of Scanned Documents 

Next, the candidates had to upload their scanned photograph, signature and other documents (if required) according to the specifications mentioned by the authorities. 

Specifications of Scanned Documents for GATE Application Form 2019








  • The passport-sized photograph should be coloured in nature.

  • Has to be taken professionally in a white or a very light background.

  • Should have been taken after August 1, 2018, and the face of the candidates have to occupy 50% of the area in the photograph. The face has to be clear and the candidates should be looking directly at the camera.

  • Sunglasses or tinted glasses will not be accepted. Only clear glasses will be permitted

Dimension: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm


Maximum Resolution: 480 x 640 pixels


Minimum Resolution: 240 x 320 pixels




  • Candidates will have to do the signature in a rectangular box of 2 cm x 7 cm size on an A4 white paper.

  • The signature has to be done in capital letters with black or dark blue ink.

  • The signature should be scanned and cropped to the specified dimensions.

Maximum Resolution: 160 x 560 pixels


Minimum Resolution: 80 x 280 pixels


Step 4 – Preview of Filled Application Form

After uploading the scanned documents, the candidates were shown a “Preview” of their filled GATE 2019 application form. All candidates were advised to thoroughly check their submitted information for any mistakes. Click on “Confirm and Submit”.

Step 5 – Payment of Application Fees 

Next, the candidates were redirected to the payment gateway web-page. The payment of fees had to be done through online mode (net banking/debit card/credit card). After the payment was done, the candidates were redirected to the GOAPS website. The status of payment could be checked by the candidates after logging back in their GOAPS account.

Step 6 – Submission of GATE Application Form 2019 

After payment, the application form of GATE 2019 was successfully submitted through GOAPS. For the correct data to be provided, the candidates were advised to fill and submit the application form themselves and not through any third party. Following the submission, candidates had to download the filled application form and print it out for future reference. 

How to check GATE 2019 Application Status 

The authorities is scrutinizing the submitted GATE 2019 application form for data accuracy. If any discrepancy is found, the candidates will be informed through email or SMS. The candidates will be able to check their status after logging into their GOAPS account. It is important to rectify the discrepancies within the allotted time otherwise the application form will get rejected. 

Forgot Enrollment ID or Password? - The candidates can use the options listed below if they lose their credentials i.e., enrollment id or password.

  • Forgot Enrollment ID or not received their Enrollment ID via Email – If the candidate selects this option then he/she will have to submit his/her registered email id and password. Authorities will send the enrollment ID to the candidates through SMS to their registered mobile number.

  • Forgot Password – Similarly, for this option, the candidates will have to submit their enrollment id and password. The new password will be sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number.

  • Forgot Enrollment ID and Password – If the candidates have registered and paid the fees, the he/she will be have to inform their zonal office. However, if payment has not been done, then the candidates will be able to re-register.

GATE Application Form Correction 

The correction facility for GATE 2019 application form for registered candidates is available from September 27 in online mode. However, all information is not open for changes. To make the changes, in certain details, candidates will have to send an email to their respective zonal office. The email should consist of their enrollment number along with the documented proof to correct the wrong information.

Q. How could I pay the application fee of GATE 2019?

Ans: Candidates had to pay the application fee through online mode i.e., net banking/debit card/credit card. Transaction details were generated after the payment is successfully done. 

Q. Is the application form of GATE 2019 available only in online mode?

Ans: Yes. The GATE application form 2019 was made available only in online mode.

Ans: No. One email ID had to be used by the candidates to fill and submit only one application form.

Ans: No. The candidates were not required to send the print out of the filled GATE 2019 application form to the authorities.

Ans: The candidates will be required to log into their GOAPS account to check their application status.

Ans: Yes. The application form will be rejected if the scanned images are not according to the specifications mentioned by the authorities. 

Q. Which Identity Document (ID) are accepted by the GATE application form 2019?

Ans: For Indian candidates, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar ID, College ID, Employee ID and Driving License will be accepted. Valid Passport/Government issued ID/College ID/Employee ID will be accepted for International candidates.
