GATE Application Form 2020 - IIT Delhi has started GATE application correction window from October 15, 2019. Modifications in the basic submitted information can now be done by the candidates in online mode. Further to make a change in exam paper, city, category and gender, the GATE web portal will soon be live. Previously. candidates could submit the application form with normal fees till September 28, 2019 (11:59 pm) and with late fee of Rs 500 till October 5, 2019 at appsgate.iitd.ac.in. GATE application form 2020 was released on from August 31, 2019. For GATE 2020, around 8.58 lakh applications have been received by IIT Delhi. The entire GATE application process was through GOAPS which is the GATE Online Application Processing System. Documents like photograph, signature, certificate of qualifying degree, category certificate (SC/ST/PwD) and/or Dyslexic certificate as applicable had to be uploaded along with the application form of GATE 2020. In addition, they also had to enter the ID number of a valid photo ID like Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar-UID etc. The GATE 2020 application fee was payable online only. GATE will be conducted by IIT Delhi on February 1, 2, 8 and 9, 2020 in computer based test (online) mode. The identity proof required by foreign students are Passport/Government Issued ID/College ID/Employee ID
Copy of Mark Sheet of the fifth or sixth or seventh semester as the case may be (Candidates who are in their final year). Candidates with backlogs have to upload a copy of any of the mark sheet of the final/pre final year
Candidates of professional equivalent qualifications, AMIE will have to upload the marksheet for Section A of AMIE
Caste Certificate (if applicable) as per given format issued by the competent authority
Certificate of Disability (PwD) in the prescribed format by competent authority
Declaration for candidates of Jammu and Kashmir (candidates who are unable to obtain documentsdue to restrictions in the region).
Note: Before filling the application form, the candidates were advised to check the eligibility criteria of GATE 2020.
The passport-sized photograph should be coloured in nature.
Has to be taken professionally in a white or very light background.
Should have been taken after August 1, 2019, and the face of the candidates have to occupy 50% of the area in the photograph. The face has to be clear and the candidates should be looking directly at the camera. Sunglasses or tinted glasses will not be accepted. Only clear glasses will be permitted
Dimension: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
Maximum Resolution: 480 x 640 pixels
Minimum Resolution: 240 x 320 pixels
Candidates will have to do the signature in a rectangular box of 2 cm x 7 cm size on A4 white paper.
The signature has to be done in capital letters with black or dark blue ink. The signature should be scanned and cropped to the specified dimensions.
Maximum Resolution: 160 x 560 pixels
Minimum Resolution: 80 x 280 pixels

Step 1- GATE 2020 Registration: Candidates who would be filling the application form has to first register through GOAPS using the given link for GATE 2020 login. The following details must be filled to register for GATE 2020
First Name, Middle Name and Surname of the candidate

Password for future login
Candidates must provide a valid email ID and mobile number depending upon country of residence during GATE registration 2020. After entering all the details, click on the submit button. A system generated One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered email ID and mobile number of the candidate. This must be used to complete the GATE 2020 registration process. Thereafter, a unique enrolment ID will be allotted to every candidate who has successfully completed their registration for GATE 2020.
Delay in OTP: If there is delay in receiving the OTP for verification, the candidates can proceed for payment with verification of any one either email ID or mobile number. The remaining one has to be verified at a later stage.
Step 2- Login to Fill GATE 2020 Application Form : After completing their GATE registration 2020, candidates must enter the following details in the application form of GATE 2020.Personal Details: Personal details like the name of candidate, father’s name, name of mother, date of birth, nativity etc must be entered.
Academic Detail: Details of academic qualifications from HSC till graduation should be entered in this step. All the details should exactly match from the official marksheet.
Contact Details: The communication address as well as the permanent address must be given in this step. In case both the addresses are same, candidates must put the same address in both the columns. GATE Paper: The next step is to select the GATE paper from the given 25 papers for which GATE 2020 is held. Candidates are advised to select the GATE paper as per their eligibility after verifying all the eligibility criteria for selecting the paper. Change of GATE exam paper is not allowed after submission of the form. GATE Exam Centre: A total of three exams cities must be entered. The first two centres must be from the same zone while the third can be from any GATE 2020 regional zone. Photo Identity Proof: The photo ID number and type of ID have to be entered in the GATE application form 2020. Permissible IDs are Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address.
Step 3- Upload Photo, Signature and other documents: In this step, candidates have to upload their photograph and signature, scanned copy of their Eligibility Certificate and Category (SC/ST) certificate/ PwD Certificate/ Dyslexic Certificate if and as applicable in pdf format.
Step 4- Preview of GATE 2020 Application Form before submission: This step is to check and verify all the details entered are correct and there are no mistakes in the application form of GATE 2020 before submitting it.
Step 5- Payment of GATE Application Fees: Payment of GATE 2020 application fee is online through Net-banking/debit card/credit card. The application fee of GATE will vary as per the category of the candidate as given below. It is to be noted that there is no late fee if candidates submit the GATE application form by September 28, 2019. Thereafter there is a late fee levied for GATE 2020 application forms submitted till October 5, 2019 after which registrations are closed.

Step 6- Submission of GATE 2020 Application Form: After the successful payment of the application fee, candidates must check the details and submit their application form of GATE 2020. Only those candidates who register will be able to access the admit card of GATE 2020.
GATE 2020 Application Status: If the application status of GATE 2020 is "Under Scrutiny/Under Process", then the candidates are requested not to worry and to wait. The responsible authorities will scrutinize all the applications and those candidates whose application needs to get rectified in photograph/signature/supporting document will get an automatic email/SMS. The scrutiny process will continue until a few days after the application form is over.

You are eligible to get a job in PSU if you crack the GATE exam, it does not matter what degree you choose, what matters here is your GATE marks. But as you are an automobile student, it will be probably a little bit difficult for you to prepare for mechanical exams as your syllabus will differ.
