On Question asked by student community
Securing a rank of 696 in WBUT PGET (West Bengal University of Technology Post Graduate Entrance Test) gives you a moderate position in the merit list. With this rank, you may have good chances in some of the mid-tier colleges under WBUT/MAKAUT for postgraduate courses like M.Tech, MBA, or MCA (depending on the field you applied for). Top government or leading private colleges may have very high cut-offs, but you can still expect options in decent institutions, especially if you choose specialized branches that are slightly less in demand. Counselling rounds will play an important role, and seats may open up as higher-ranked candidates move to their preferred colleges. It is recommended to prepare a priority list of colleges and branches before counselling and keep track of seat allotment updates. To get accurate predictions of possible college options based on your WBUT PGET rank, you can use official predictors and counselling tools that provide detailed insights.
Hello,
With a WBUT PGET 2025 rank of 262, you have a decent chance of getting into a government college, especially in core branches like Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical. However, for top branches like CSE or ECE in popular government colleges, it may be tough.
Your chances will also depend on:
Your category (General/SC/ST/OBC)
Branch preference
Seat availability
You should definitely take part in the counselling process. Try all possible options and keep some backup choices too.
Hope it helps !
Hi dear candidate,
You have got a respectable rank in your WBUT PGET exam and with the rank of 684 you have chances in top colleges like MAKAUT, Kolkata but, keep in mind that this institution has very low rank range which sometimes closes at 300 or 400 based on the previous year trends. Waiting till last round of seat allocation might be worth for you.
You can also try at top private colleges like Heritage Institute of Technology OR Techno India Group colleges in Salt Lake or Hooghly as these should also fall easily in your rank range.
