Questions related to GATE

Have a question related to GATE ?

Hello Greetings

The eligibility criteria for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exams, including the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) paper, typically require a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, such as:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech)

- Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B.Arch)

- Bachelor's degree in Science (B.S.)

- Master's degree in Science (M.S.)

- Master's degree in Computer Applications (MCA)

However, since you have a non-technical bachelor's degree in Arts, you might not meet the eligibility criteria directly.

What You Can Do

1. *Check the GATE Eligibility Criteria*: Verify the official GATE website for the latest eligibility criteria, as rules may change.

2. *MCA Program*: Since you're currently pursuing an MCA, you might be eligible to apply for GATE DA after completing your MCA program.

3. *Contact the GATE Authorities*: Reach out to the GATE organizing committee or the zonal office for clarification on your eligibility.

Important Points to Remember

- GATE eligibility criteria may vary depending on the institute and department.

- Some institutes might have additional requirements or exceptions.

Stay Updated

Regularly check the official GATE website for updates on eligibility criteria, exam patterns, and application procedures.

Have a great day

Hello Raj,

The cutoff for GATE Metallurgical Engineering (MT) for PSUs and IITs under the SC category varies annually depending on factors such as the number of applicants, difficulty level of the exam, and available seats. Here's an overview based on past trends:

PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) Cutoff:

  1. General Trend:

    • PSUs like SAIL , IOCL , and NALCO recruit through GATE MT.
    • SC category cutoff for PSUs typically ranges from 25-35 marks out of 100.

  2. Company-specific Cutoffs (Approximate):

    • SAIL: Around 25-30 marks .
    • IOCL: Higher cutoff, usually 30-35 marks .
    • HPCL/NALCO: Similar range as SAIL, 25-30 marks .

IITs Cutoff (GATE MT for M.Tech Admission):

  3. IIT Bombay: SC cutoff for M.Tech in Metallurgy is around 20-25 marks .
  4. IIT Madras: Cutoff for SC is slightly lower, around 18-22 marks .
  5. IIT Kharagpur: Typically 20-25 marks .
  6. IIT Roorkee/IIT Kanpur: Cutoff is around 18-22 marks .
  7. IIT BHU: Lower cutoff, approximately 15-20 marks .

    Notes:
  • Eligibility for PSUs : Even after clearing the cutoff, PSUs conduct interviews and group discussions, which are equally important.

  • IIT Admission Process : Some IITs conduct written tests or interviews post-GATE, while others rely purely on GATE scores.

Keep track of notifications on PSU recruitment portals and IIT admission websites for exact details each year.
