Careers360: Now the exam is close by, what should be the focus of the students?

Saurabh Kumar: Now the board exams are over, so the students should focus & devote his 100% time in preparing for the last brace of the race. Giving mock tests revision & strategy framing should be the core focus.

Careers360: What are the main topics that need to be brushed at the last minute? Pls specify subject wise

Mathematics

  • Vector & 3D

  • Coordinate

  • Statistics & logical reasoning

  • Integral calculus

Physics

  • Units & measurement

  • Gravitation

  • Electromagnetism

  • Semiconductor devices

Chemistry

  • Chemistry in everyday life

  • Chemical Bonding & periodic table

  • Liquid solutions

  • Transition Elements and Coordination compounds

  • biomolecules

Careers360: How should a student’s gear up for the exam in the last week? Should he do mock tests, or just revise?

Saurabh Kumar: By now, students would have studied and revised all topics/subjects and done a thorough analysis of their weaknesses and strengths by taking several mock test both topic wise as well as subject wise if not then take one mock test each day. No need to study theory just revise important formula & concepts.

Careers360: Can you give tips on how to tackle the exam - which section to do first and which last?

Saurabh Kumar: Which section to start with, it is the student area of strength if he starts with a couple of correct questions his confidence will boost up. Normally we advise 45 minutes to chemistry 60 minutes to physics & 75 minutes to mathematics.

Careers360: What should one do if one is not sure of the answer but one can maybe work out the answer?

Saurabh Kumar: Normally one should avoid doing this, but you can try this in one or two questions not more than that in any case it can be suicidal.

Careers360: Ideally how much time should a student spend on each question?

Saurabh Kumar: It will depend upon subject & difficulty level of the question usually on should spend about a minute & a half in chemistry, one to two minutes in Physics & 2 minutes in mathematics remaking minutes can be used in tough questions but in any case, it should not exceed 5 minutes.

Careers360: Are there any tips you wish to give to combat exam fear, nervousness etc?

Saurabh Kumar: Give all mock tests as final exam & final exam as mock test, Do not think too much about the results, Avoid talking to your peers & friends, Eat a lot of antioxidants & be sure that you will do well. Don’t refer multiple books & study topics which you have never read by doing this you can avoid fear & nervousness.

Careers360: Any message for students?

Saurabh Kumar: This is not the time to learn anything new but to consolidate what one has already learnt. Focus on revision of important formula steps, assumptions, should be on top of the mind of the aspirant. It becomes essential that the student, basis his own analysis and experience, develops a mindset and confidence of deciding which subject to start with in order to get maximum right answers. They should eat healthy and practise meditation to manage stress and maintain calmness.

in jee main class 12 Marks details I have given chemistry Marks instead of computer science Marks though I got higher Marks in computer science .will it create any problem?

Aditya kumar Student Expert 22nd Oct, 2019
Hello there!

Greetings !

To calculate percentage in 12th board for filling jee mains application form you need to consider the marks scored in five subjects - (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics, (4) A language and (5) Any subject other than the above four, is taken into account. So, it's good that you don't replaced chemistry marks by cs marks. Also, you don't need to worry at all, you will not face any problem as there's no percentage barrier to be eligible for jee mains. The criteria to be eligible for jee mains is that candidate should have passed class 12 or qualifying the exam in 2018 or 2019 or should be appearing in 2020 for it with Physics,Mathematics, and any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject).

The percentage barrier comes while taking admission in NIT,IIT and GFTI for which candidates should have obtained a minimum of 75% marks in class 12 or equivalent exam or they must be in the top 20 percentile in their class 12 examination. For SC/ ST, the eligibility is to obtain a minimum of 65% marks in class 12 or equivalent.

Thankyou

hi, will it be asked during placement if I am dropping two years for jee mains? i passed in 2018 12th, i am studying in a college 1st year in 2019, and if i give jee mains 2020, will it be considered two years drop? or one year drop? since im doing college as well as preparing.

Shudhanshu Gupta Student Expert 21st Oct, 2019
Hello.
as you said that you did a partial drop and you had completed your class 12th in 2018 so if you will give JEE mains in 2020 then definitely there will be your two year drop considered, for that you will have to submit the reason for this drop when you will take admission in any college after selection, and if you give JEE mains in 2019 then your one year drop will be considered.
Best of luck.

How to score 90 percentilein JEE mains

Ashish pal Student Expert 21st Oct, 2019

Hello dear aspirant.

I think you will be well aware of the fact that from this year onwards there is slight change in JEE mains examination pattern. Scoring 90 percentile is not very tough still . You have to study regular and solve at least one practice paper daily and join test serieses to evaluate yourself.

It will surely help you.

Good luck

Hello,

If you have 6 subjects then the aggregate of Marks is done as English + Best of Four and English is compulsory.
But for JEE Main 2020 - Subject Combinations for Admissions
The subjects given below are compulsory for the candidates in order to get admissions through JEE Main 2020 into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. The subject combination for each paper is given below:
