The Indian Institute of Science Education & Research Thiruvananthapuram is conducting the IISER 2025 counselling process online. The authorities prepare a separate merit list for each channel, including IISER aptitude test-qualified candidates. Candidates whose names were mentioned on the IISER 2025 merit list can participate in the counselling for IISER 2025. According to the previous year, the authority conducted 8 rounds of IAT 2025 counselling. Candidates can find the detailed procedure to participate in the IISER counselling 2025 below.
Step 1- Filling the application form- Firstly, candidates have to fill and submit the online IISER 2025 application form on or before the last date. It should be noted that there are separate application forms for each channel of IISER 2025 admission.
Step 2- Choice filling - While filling out the application form for IISER 2025, candidates will also have to fill in their choices of courses and institutes in order of their preference. Candidates should fill in their choices carefully as the seats will be allotted based on the choices filled by them.
Step 3- Reporting for document verification - In the next step of IISER counselling 2025, candidates must report at the allotted centres to get their documents verified. Candidates should make sure that they carry all the relevant documents with them as failing which will lead to disqualification of candidature.
Step 4- Seat Allotment - Based on the choices filled by the candidates, merit list, and availability of seats in institutes, authorities will allot seats to the eligible candidates. After seat allotment, candidates will have the option of freeze and float.
Step 5- Fee Payment - All the candidates who will be allotted a seat will be required to pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs. 25000, for general and OBC candidates. In case, a candidate belongs to any other category then the seat acceptance fee will be Rs. 12,500.
Here are the guidelines regarding the withdrawal or refund of fees:
The application fee is non-refundable.
The refund policy for the Seat Acceptance Fee is as follows:
The candidate can withdraw his/her seat/offer by pressing the button “WITHDRAW OFFER” in the application portal. No other form/method of withdrawal is accepted. Email or phone communication in this regard is not entertained.
Once a candidate has withdrawn, he/she will not be considered for further rounds of the admission process. A withdrawn candidate cannot re-enter the admission process again under any circumstances.
There are two important withdrawal dates:
Round-wise withdrawal (RW) date, and
Final withdrawal (FW) date. RW and FW dates can be found below.
If a candidate withdraws from the counselling process before the RW deadline, then no cancellation fee will be applicable.
If a candidate withdraws after the RW deadline but on or before FW, then the non-refundable amount will be deducted.
IISERs and JAC are not liable for losses incurred if your application is not withdrawn in the above manner and on or before the stipulated date and time.
Once a candidate has withdrawn the offer through the counselling portal, the amount due will be returned through the same channel (credit/debit card, bank account, etc.) used to pay the SAF. Such candidates do not have to take any additional steps towards their SAF refund. The refund process will start only after three weeks of the completion of the admission process.
If the candidate does not withdraw on or before the FW deadline, then the SAF will be transferred to the allotted IISER. Any further withdrawal will be taken care of by that particular IISER following the instructions given below.
If the candidate fails to join in person at the offered IISER on the joining date mentioned in the offer letter of the respective IISER, the cancellation fee decided by the concerned IISER will be applicable.
Further, candidates who have paid SAF but fail to show up by the last date of admission fee payment at the concerned IISER will not be considered for further rounds of admission.
If the candidate decides to discontinue after joining any particular IISER, the refund policy of that IISER will be applicable. The Seat Acceptance Fee will be eventually transferred to the IISER which the candidate finally registers at, and the respective IISER will collect the remainder of the fees that may be applicable locally from the candidate upon registration at the particular IISER.

Hello,
If you have uploaded the old EWS certificate (2024–2025) instead of the new one (2025–2026), there is a chance that it may not be accepted, as the IISER notification clearly asks for the valid and updated EWS certificate for the year 2025–2026.
Right now, if the correction window is closed, you won’t be able to change it. But don’t worry too much. Once the results are out and before the counselling starts (before 16 June), there is usually a document verification process. You may get a chance to upload the correct and updated certificate during that time.
Just make sure you get the 2025–2026 EWS certificate ready as soon as possible, so if they allow updates before counselling, you can upload the correct one.
Hope it helps !
Hello,
If you have selected OBC-NCL category and uploaded a Central OBC-NCL certificate , then there is no issue .
IISER accepts Central OBC-NCL certificate , as long as it is valid and issued by a competent authority. Just make sure the certificate is:
Issued within one year from the application date.
Clearly mentions OBC-NCL and your caste is in the central list .
If these points are okay, then your form is fine.
Hope it helps !
Hello aspirant,
Applicants must take either the JEE Main or JEE Advanced exam in order to be considered for admission to the best engineering institutes in India. JEE Advanced and Main are administered by separate bodies. Because the JEE Advanced exam is more difficult than the JEE Main exam, candidates who are prepared for it have an advantage.
