QnA related to JEE Main

Ask your question related to JEE Main

Yes, your marks in Plus One (Class 11)  will affect your rank in KEAM, JEE, and potentially CUET (depending on the university) as these exams consider both Class 11 and Class 12 marks for the final ranking in Kerala.

For KEAM, weightage is given to both Class 11 and Class 12 marks (typically equal weightage of 50% each) for the final rank calculation in Engineering entrance.

JEE Main considers only Class 12 board marks for the ranking. However, some IITs might include Class 11 marks as part of their criteria for shortlisting candidates for the JEE Advanced entrance exam.

The weightage given to Class 11 and 12 marks for CUET ranking can vary depending on the university you're applying to. Some universities might consider only Class 12, while others might include Class 11 marks as well. It's crucial to check the specific admission criteria of the universities you're interested in through CUET.

I hope it helps!

Hello aspirant,

To secure 99.9 percentile in JEE Main, follow a structured and disciplined approach:

1. Understand the Syllabus and Exam Pattern

  • Cover the full NCERT syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Prioritize high-weightage topics and master the basics.

2. Time Management and Study Plan

  • Allocate 6-8 hours daily for study, with equal time for all three subjects.
  • Break down the syllabus into manageable sections and set weekly targets.

3. Focus on High-Weightage Topics

  • Mathematics: Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors, Probability.
  • Physics: Mechanics, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics.

Chemistry: Organic Reactions, Coordination Compounds, Chemical Kinetics, and Physical Chemistry.

4. Conceptual Clarity and Application

  • Focus on conceptual understanding and application-based learning.
  • Solve previous years’ questions (at least the last 10 years) to understand the pattern.

5. Practice and Mock Tests

  • Attempt mock tests regularly in a timed environment.
  • Analyze performance, identify weak areas, and improve accordingly.

6. Revision Strategy

  • Dedicate the last 1-2 months for rigorous revision and practice.
  • Revise formulas, key concepts, and problem-solving techniques.

7. Speed and Accuracy

  • Practice solving problems quickly while maintaining accuracy.
  • Work on minimizing negative marking by avoiding guesswork.

8. Stay Consistent and Motivated

  • Maintain consistency in preparation.
  • Take regular breaks to avoid burnout.

Following this approach diligently will increase the chances of achieving a 99.9 percentile. Let me know if you need a detailed timetable or recommended study materials.

Hello there,

1. Chances for Government Engineering Colleges in Odisha (CSE Branch)

  • Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla

    • Cutoff for CSE: Below 1,50,000 (General category).

    • Difficult with 83.4 percentile unless category reservation applies.

  • CET Bhubaneswar (College of Engineering and Technology)

    • Cutoff for CSE: Within 1,80,000 for General category.

    • Possible for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS).

  • Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Berhampur

    • Cutoff for CSE: Around 2,00,000 rank.

    • Possible with your rank depending on seat availability.

      2. Reservation Category Impact

  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS Candidates: Higher chances of securing a seat in government colleges.

  • General Category: Chances are lower, especially for CSE in top colleges.

    3. Counseling and Admission

  • Admission is conducted through OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) counseling based on JEE Main rank.

  • Participate in OJEE counseling and apply for various rounds to maximize chances.

    4. Backup Options

  • Consider branches like IT, ECE, or Electrical Engineering if CSE is not available.

  • Look for private engineering colleges in Odisha that accept JEE Main scores.

For exact cutoffs and counseling updates, refer to the OJEE website after results.

Hello,

As your rank is 17000 in JEE Main, your OBC-NCL will be lower ( better ) because OBC candidates have a reservation

OBC ranks are around 40-50% of the CRL rank. So, if your CRL rank is 17000, your OBC-NCL rank would be approximately 7000 to 8500.

Factors affecting OBC rank:-

  1. Total number of candidates
  2. OBC-NCL category percentage
  3. Cut off variations

Hello,

OBC-NCL Reservation Percentage:- Typically, 27% of total seats are reserved for OBC-NCL Candidates

Approx number of OBC candidates= 25% to 27% of 15 lakh= 3.75 lakh to 4.05 lakh

OBC-NCL rank = OBC-NCL candidates / Total candidates * CRL Rank

OBC-NCL rank= 4290 to 4680

Apart from JEE Main, VITEEE, and SRMJEE, you can consider the following entrance exams for engineering admissions in India:

1. National-Level Exams:

BITSAT – BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad

WBJEE – For engineering colleges in West Bengal

COMEDK UGET – For private engineering colleges in Karnataka

MET (Manipal Entrance Test) – For Manipal Institute of Technology

KIITEE – For KIIT University, Bhubaneswar

AMUEEE – For Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)

CUET UG (for B.Tech at some universities) – Includes central and private universities offering B.Tech

2. State-Level Exams:

MHT CET – For Maharashtra engineering colleges

KEAM – For Kerala engineering colleges

AP EAMCET – For Andhra Pradesh engineering colleges

TS EAMCET – For Telangana engineering colleges

Hello mate,

With 85 percentile in JEE Main from OBC-NCL category, CSE program at IIIT is very very challenging

Assuming 27% of candidates are from OBC, then your category rank would be 60000.

For instance, IIIT Hyderabad had a closing rank of 866 for CSE 2024. IIITs often require ranks within top 10000 to 15000.

Try going for other colleges mate..!!
