Mathematics (Part I)

This section is consistently reported as the most challenging and time-consuming component of the paper. It typically includes both Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Value Answer (NVA) type questions. The questions are often application-based and can be lengthy, requiring strong calculation skills. The sections having highest weightage are Calculus (Limits, Continuity, Definite Integrals, Differential Equations), Vector Algebra, and 3D Geometry. Constant practice and good management of time is the key to solve the calculation intensive problems well.

Aptitude Test (Part II)

The aptitude test is the most scoring and relatively easiest part, with the level of difficulty varying from Easy to Moderate. It is based purely on MCQs and the major areas being tested are: Spatial Reasoning and General Architectural Awareness. Important topics include visualizing 3D from 2D drawings, detecting hidden shapes, mirror images and the theory of scale and proportion and color harmony. Fast thinking and visualization are important.

Drawing Test (Part III)

Drawing test is in Pen-and-Paper mode to evaluate drawing and visualization skills of the candidate. It normally involves two sets of questions which are otherwise quite straightforward and moderately difficult. The trick is in maximising the effectiveness of the drawing within the allocated time limits. Typical questions would involve perspective drawing of a given scene (urbanscape or landscape) seen from memory, drawing up a two or three dimensional composition from a set of geometrical shapes and scales, shading the drawing with proper proportions of shadows to effectively project a three dimensional scene. Regular practice in drawing within time limits would be needed to perform well in such creative sections.

JEE Main 2025 Paper 2 Previous Year Analysis

The difficulty was moderate to tough. Maths was tricky and time consuming whereas drawing/aptitude was tricky but mostly direct. Good spatial and drawing skills would fetch a good rank. The questions were mostly standard NCERT based. Time management was overall a hurdle. An in depth understanding of JEE Main 2026 syllabus was required. The analysis for 2025 is given below:

1. Mathematics Analysis – JEE Main 2025 Paper 2

r2 Mathematics was the toughest, lengthiest and most time consuming section of Paper 2 of JEE main 2025. Most questions were lengthy, computer based and calculation intensive requiring conceptual maturity and speed. Calculus, Conic section, Vectors and 3 D geometry, coordinate geometry, Algebra and Trigonometry dominated the weightage. Percentage of questions based on multi step thinking were less than the formula based direct theory application. Compared to 2024, paper 2 mathematics section in 2025 was very challenging as most students could not finish the paper on time. Going forward, aspirants should work on honing fundamentals, focus on speed and practice high variety of questions (especially in areas of high weightage such as Integration, Differentiation, Circles, and Probability).

2. Aptitude Section Analysis

The Aptitude section was moderate to easy and less time consuming than Mathematics section. Students called it easy to moderate with logical, graphical and straightforward questions. It was mainly oriented toward testing of Hand-eye coordination, Image analysis, Language ability, Architectural understanding, and Pattern recognition. Questions included tube/ pipe observations in 2D, logical reasoning using mirrors, rotations, and architecture environment, and visualization of architectural concepts in 3D. Those who practiced aptitude puzzles everyday found it very manageable. In case of B.Planning paper, questions were related to environmental planning, urban planning concepts, and logical puzzles. On a whole, it added value to overall score as it was never time-absorbing. Using various puzzles, eye-mind coordination exercises regularly will ensure maximum scoring in this part.

3. Drawing Section Analysis (for B.Arch)

Drawing section was more of an art exercise in paper 2 of JEE Main 2025 as it was based on flawless imagination, observation, and visualization skills. Students had to tackle 2 drawing questions on the paper, which were based on topics like portraits, human figures, perspective drawing of common scenes, 3D sketches, abstract drawing, and memory exercises. It was a moderate difficulty section but time-intensive, requiring good proportioning, speed, shading, and presentation skills. Students who were training themselves with various sketches had an advantage over others. To do well, students should start practicing various sketches, and develop habit of visualizing objects with correct proportions and shading.

4. Planning Section Analysis (for B.Planning)

For candidates taking B.Planning paper, this part took the place of drawing questions and was based on planning related MCQs. It was rated as moderate and intellectual in approach with questions from city planning, urban economics and planning, infrastructure, tourism, and general awareness. Some questions tested conceptual understanding through diagrams or situational planning scenarios. Students with basic preparation in geography or environmental studies found it easy to score. Compared to previous years, 2025 included more factual and application-based questions, which required careful reading. Aspirants are advised to prepare from NCERT Geography, general planning notes, and previous-year questions to strengthen this part.

JEE Main 2024 Paper 2 (A) B.Arch Analysis for January 24

Students who have appeared in this year's JEE Main 2024 considered the level of difficulty for JEE Main Paper-2 (B. Arch) as Easy to Moderate. Check the complete details here-

• Maths (Part-I )- The difficulty level of Part-I was reported to be easy to moderate. It comprised 30 questions from various chapters such as Quadratic Equations, Progression & Series, Inverse Trigonometric Equations, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Probability, Permutation & Combination, Matrices, Determinants, 3D Geometry, Vectors, Limits & Continuity, Definite Integrals, and Differential Equations. Co-ordinate Geometry was given less weightage, with only one question asked from Straight Lines.
• Aptitude (Part-II)- The paper consisted of 50 questions from the Aptitude Section. The section difficulty level of this section was also reported to be easy to moderate. More weightage was given to 3-dimensional Figures, architecture aptitude, monumental details, and some logic-based questions.
• Drawing (Part-III)- The section difficulty level was reported to be easy. It consisted of two questions, each of 50 marks. One of the questions involved copying a picture from the screen in black and white as per one's perception. The second question involved two options, out of which one was to be attempted.
  The options were:
  1. View of a Football Stadium as a spectator
  2. Abstract Art using a musical instrument in 3D and naming the texture and shadow effect.

JEE Main 2023 Paper 2 B.Arch Analysis for April 12 (shift 2)

JEE Main 2022 paper 2 shift 1 analysis for January 23- Morning Shift

According to the JEE Main 2022 paper 2 analysis, the following feedback has been received from students:

• The morning JEE Main shift wise difficulty level of JEE Main 2022 BArch and BPlan paper was moderately difficult.

JEE Main Paper 2 Analysis - Afternoon Shift

After the JEE main exam concluded for B.Arch and B.Plan, the following reactions were received:

• Most questions in the General Aptitude section were tricky while the Mathematics section was comparatively easier.
• Some questions about general knowledge related to COVID in were asked in the Aptitude section.
• The overall difficulty level of the paper was 'easy to moderate'.

JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 Analysis: September 1 (Afternoon Shift)

Himanshu: I found Mathematics to be the toughest section. Most of the questions asked in Mathematics were from topics like Integration, Area-bounded, and differentiation. I did not face any problems in writing the exam. All the COVID-19 guidelines were followed inside the JEE Main exam centre.

Satish Kumar: I found the Mathematics section to be tricky and tough. Aptitude was easiest of all and most of the questions were to tell about the top-view. Covid-19 guidelines were followed inside the exam hall.

JEE Mains 2020 Paper 2 Analysis: September 1 (Forenoon Shift)

Sachin - The overall difficulty level of the JEE Main B.Arch paper was moderate. The drawing and Aptitude sections were easy, however, the Maths section was quite tough. There were a total of 5 numerical value questions that were asked from topics such as hyperbola, measurements, and three-dimensional geometry. All the guidelines were followed inside the JEE Main exam centre.

Ishu Goel - General Aptitude section had maximum questions regarding the top-view; other topics were finding correct elevation, odd figures, etc. The drawing was not very easy as she is not very good at it. All the social distancing norms were followed, thermal scanning was done, and students were not allowed to leave the exam centre altogether.

Another student felt that Mathematics was tough but the questions were solvable. Most of the questions asked were from the 11th and 12th standard syllabus. General aptitude was easy and had questions about patterns and sequences. The General Aptitude section also had General Knowledge questions like Where is Notre dame cathedral located or where does the President of the USA live? The COVID-19 guidelines are followed well. The sanitisers were given to the students and hygiene was also well maintained.

JEE Main Paper 2 Analysis 2020 (January Session)

JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 for the January session has been conducted on January 6. Students are provided below the exam analysis below for the forenoon and afternoon session. Students can check the JEE Main analysis of previous years to get an understanding of the exam.
According to the students who attempted the examination, the paper was of moderate difficulty. There were more questions from 11th standard syllabus and Mathematics was the difficult part. In the General Aptitude section, there were questions such as explaining 3D image, viewing the structure of a building from the top, and having to match it with the options. Mathematics was a bit tricky but not tough. Coordinate Geometry and Sets & Probability questions were there in the paper. General aptitude had questions on mental ability and there were only a few questions from theories. In the drawing section, the students had to draw a gymnast and then use cylinders to make a composition.

JEE Main Paper 2 Analysis from Students (Forenoon Session)

Manya: The paper was of moderate difficulty level. The mathematics section was also easy. The numerical value questions were a bit tricky. Planning section was the easiest and Mathematics was the most difficult one.

Prachi: The paper was really easy. The aptitude section basically had questions where students were asked to identify symmetry. Drawing section students were asked to draw symmetric sketches and show their imagination skills.

Dhruv: The paper was quite easy for both B.Arch and B.Planning. Numerical Value questions were also of moderate difficulty level.

Samiksha: The exam was moderately easy. The aptitude section mainly had design-based questions where students were asked to determine the correct top view etc from the figure mentioned in the questions.

JEE Mains Paper 2 Analysis from Students (Forenoon Session)

Harshita: Questions were asked on explaining the 3-D images. Questions from Maths were quite easy

Prateek Yadav: Questions from Calculus in Mathematics were tough, overall the difficulty level was moderate.

Anuj: Mathematics questions were easy while aptitude and drawing questions were easy. Questions were mostly from class 11. Numerical value questions were easy.

Anubhav: The questions were easy from Mathematics, aptitude part was a bit difficult. He is expecting 180-200 marks.

Ananya: The difficulty level of the paper was moderate.

JEE Mains 2019 Paper 2 Analysis for April Session

Most of the students who appeared for the entrance exam felt that the paper was of moderate difficulty level. Among all the sections, Mathematics was the toughest whereas the aptitude and drawing sections were relatively easier. Also, General knowledge questions were asked in the aptitude section whereas Mathematics had conic, integration, probability problems, and more. In one of the questions of the drawing section, students were asked to draw a figure that had to be made out of a cube. For other questions, students had to draw a flower and tablecloth.

JEE Mains 2019 Paper 2 Analysis for January session

The January session of JEE Main Paper 2 drew mixed reviews from the students about the difficulty level of the exam. As per the students who appeared for the entrance exam the drawing section of JEE Main Paper 2 was easy, some students felt that the Mathematics section was tougher as compared to previous years. Students were also told that the Aptitude section of Paper 2 had questions about the full form of ISRO and NASA.
