What is the Prep Rank in JEE Advanced 2025? - Reserved category applicants who have not cleared the JEE Advanced exam are assigned under a different rank list, called the preparatory JEE Advanced rank list. Certain IITs conduct a one year preparatory course for eligible SC, ST and PwD applicants. This course provides an additional opportunity to reserved category applicants. Those who achieve a prep rank in JEE Advanced will be able to study under the preparatory course. This rank is allotted course wise and college wise, depending on the candidates choices during JOSAA counselling.
SC, ST and PwD candidates who have secured a Prep rank in JEE Advanced 2025, will be eligible for direct admission to the allotted IIT. Provided that, they must have successfully passed the one year preparatory course.
The admission to preparatory courses is only possible if the candidate has been assigned a prep rank in JEE Advanced. The JEE Advanced prep rank is assigned on the basis of the following:
Only the vacant seats reserved for the respective category are considered.
Candidates have not accepted a seat in the preparatory course earlier.
The minimum JEE Advanced eligibility criteria must be met.

A prep rank in JEE Advanced is a special rank allotted to SC PwD and ST aspirants. They must not have cleared the JEE Advanced 22025 exam to be eligible for admission through JoSAA. However, they will be able to take part in one year preparatory course at IITs to get actual admission to the desired UG course.
A prep SC rank is a rank assigned to the SC applicant. They will be able to take part in the preparatory courses. On completion of the course, the will be provided direct admission to the already allotted UG course.
A prep SC rank in JEE Advanced 2025 is the special rank assigned to SC candidates for admission to preparatory courses.

For JEE Main there is no age limit , you can appear if you have passed or are appearing in class 12th in the eligible year , so repeating the class 11th will not affect your eligibility.
