Assam Science and Technology University conducts the Joint Lateral Entry Examination (JLEE) for admissions directly to the third semester of B.E/BTech programs in Assam Engineering College, Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, Girijinanda Institute of Management and Technology. The Assam JLEE is a state-level exam that will be held as pen-and-paper having 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a duration of 3 hours.

JLEE Assam Joint Lateral Entry Examination (session 2026)
Candidates who wish to appear for the Assam Joint Lateral Entry Exam must complete the registration of Assam JLEE 2026 before the last date. The last date for the Assam JLEE 2026 application form will be in June 2026. The application process consists of registration, form filling, uploading of documents, and payment of JLEE application fees. Candidates had to follow the steps mentioned to fill out the Assam JLEE application form 2026.
Fill the application form—candidates need to enter their details like name, parents’ name, date of birth (age as of July 1, 2025), permanent residence proof of Assam, address, nationality, category, and preferred exam centres.
Upload essential documents—Candidates will be required to upload the following documents in a specified format issued by the authorities.

Pay the online Assam JLEE application fee—After filling the application form, candidates need to pay the application fees using the mode available. Candidates will have to pay the application fee of INR 1500 in online mode only. Candidates will pay the fee through net banking/credit card/debit card.
Note: Instead of sending a copy of the JLEE application form 2026 or any other document to the authorities, candidates must take a printout of the filled-in application form.
The candidates need to note down the application form number/user ID and password to download the admit card, check results, and more. If a candidate forgets his/her password, then he/she can retrieve the password by clicking on the “Forgot Password” button.

It is mandatory for the candidates that they must have passed a recognized diploma with a minimum 3-year duration from any polytechnic institution affiliated with the State Council of Technical Education (SCTE), Assam.
Candidates must have scored a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) in their diploma exam.
Only permanent residents of Assam will be allowed to participate in the Assam JLEE exam.
Candidates appearing in the final exams of their diploma course can also appear for the exam, but have to submit their original mark sheet along with the passing certificate of the final diploma as stipulated.
Students of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) and Assam Energy Institute, Sivasagar, are also eligible for JLEE 2026

Candidates can apply for the OMR sheet within a specific period of time. Candidates will have to pay a prescribed fee of Rs. 300. The fee can be paid to the office through a bank draft in favor of “Assam Science and Technology University” payable at SBI, AEC Branch, Jalukbari, Guwahati - 781013, Assam. Candidates must mention their name, roll number, and address in the application for the Assam JLEE OMR sheet. The application should be addressed to Member Secretary, JLEE 2026.
The Assam JLEE cutoff is the minimum mark that will allow a number of candidates to get admission and a confirmed seat. DTE will announce these marks, as it is responsible for holding the Assam JLEE 2026 counselling.
The DTE will also announce a waitlist. The cutoff of JLEE 2026 will be separate for each branch and will be announced for each round of counselling. Candidates whose marks and roll numbers are announced will have to attend the JLEE counselling 2026 on the specified date. Candidates can go through the previous years' cutoff to garner a good idea of the marks required for admissions for each branch.
DTE, Assam, will hold counselling for candidates who have a valid score in Assam JLEE 2026. The JLEE counselling process, which includes registration and choice filling. The counselling process is expected to be held in two rounds for candidates who have qualified for the entrance exam. The steps involved in the Assam JLEE counselling are as follows:
Registration: Candidates will have to pay a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs. 600, followed by registering for the counselling process.

Verification of Documents: It is important for the candidate to carry all the important documents and get them verified before admission.
Seat allotment: As soon as all the above steps have been completed successfully, the authorities will allot seats to the candidates on the basis of their merit and choice of institute. They need to pay the admission fee and confirm their admission.
Second round of Assam JLEE counselling: This round of counselling will be held for the vacant seats left after round 1. DTE Assam will publish a merit list of all candidates who will be qualified and will be eligible for admission to attend the same.

Assam Joint Lateral Entry Examination is conducted by Assam Science And Technology University ASTU, Guwahati for lateral admission in Engineering courses.
Candidates qualifying the Examination will be provided admission to 2nd-year B.E/B.Tech courses in the participating Institutions of Assam.
The process of counselling and seat allotment of Assam JLEE 2021 will have two rounds which will be conducted in offline mode and candidates will have to reach the counselling venue on the scheduled date and time. After each round of Assam JLEE counselling, merit list will be released on the basis of different factors and the seats in the institutes will be allotted to candidates .
JLEE counselling 2021 process is held in two rounds in offline mode only so there won't be any third round for counseling.
