Educational Qualification

Candidates who have passed Class 12 (or an equivalent qualifying examination) in 2025 or 2026, or those appearing for the 2027 Class 12 board examination, are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2027.

Required Subjects

Candidates should have studied Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject in Class 12. English is generally required as per the norms of the qualifying examination.

Diploma Holders

Candidates with a recognised 3-year diploma approved by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education are generally eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The NTA prescribes no upper age limit for appearing in JEE Main. However, participating institutes may have their own age-related eligibility criteria for admission.

Number of Attempts

Candidates can appear for JEE Main for three consecutive years from the year they pass Class 12. Since the exam is conducted twice a year (January and April), they can attempt it up to six times in total.

75% Eligibility Rule

The 75% marks criterion (65% for SC/ST candidates) or being in the top 20 percentile of the respective board is not required to appear for JEE Main. It is applicable only during admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs through JoSAA counselling.
