Careers360- What would you advise to the students who are preparing for JEE Main 2020?
Manmohan Gupta- With six months left for the JEE Main 2020, the students must spend the time between July and October for the completion of JEE Main syllabus and revision of class XI syllabus. November-December is the time where students must focus on JEE Main specific topics and undertake as many mock exams and solve as many previous year question papers as possible. It will help students put their preparation to test and gain confidence to take the examination.
Careers360- Books play a very critical role in the preparation; Kindly name some books which students should follow.
Manmohan Gupta- While preparing for JEE Main, students must ensure to read and get a strong hold of NCERT books for the three subjects. Once done with the NCERT books, the students can start higher-level preparation with other books available. Here is a subject-wise list of books that the students can follow for their JEE Main preparation:
Physics - H. C. Verma and Irodov
Chemistry - K. Kumar (Inorganic Chemistry), Himanshu Pandey and M. H. Chauhan (Organic Chemistry), and Narendra Avasthi (Physical Chemistry)
Mathematics - Cengage and Arihant Publication
Careers360- What is the best method to study according to you?
Manmohan Gupta- The study methodology can be divided into three main phases. Phase one is for students to understand the basic concepts and topics. Phase two is where the students put the theoretical learning to practice, with particular focus on Mathematics and Physics. Third phase is for testing your practice as done in the first two phases, so as to analyze your strengths as well as weaknesses. Following this methodology would allow students to make the best of their preparation time.
-->Careers360- The school board exam and JEE Main are quite overlapping in terms of schedule, what could be an effective way to prepare and score well in such condition?
Manmohan Gupta- Ideally, a student must have completed with their JEE Main preparation by the end of December and would have taken the first attempt in the month of January. Thus, after January, the student can revisit their class XII preparation to sit for Boards conducted in March. The preparation for Boards would also help the students to revise the class XII syllabus once more, which will eventually come to the student’s aid while taking the second JEE attempt in April.
Careers360- Which of the topics you will suggest as important; Please mention it for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics separately?
Manmohan Gupta-
Important topics for Physics include:
Modern Physics
Optics
Heat and Thermodynamics
Electromagnetism
Units and Measurement
Important topics for Chemistry:
Chemical Bonding
Periodic Table
Liquid Solutions
Chemistry in everyday life
Hydrocarbons
Important topics for Mathematics:
Conic section
Application of Derivative
Definite Integral
Sequence and Series
Quadratic Equation
Careers360- Students rely hugely on coaching study material, where do you extract that from; which books are used for the purpose?
Manmohan Gupta- Since students get only limited time to prepare for JEE Main examination, it is not possible that they go through each book available for preparation. Thus, most coaching centers provide their own study material which collates all the important concepts and topics in a single module. We at Vidyamandir Classes, with our faculty consisting majorly of ex-IITians, create our own material which is a perfect amalgamation of all concepts explained in detail followed by examples, and practice papers available for our students.
Careers360- JEE Main is now conducted twice a year, how do you find it from the student’s perspective?
Manmohan Gupta- With NTA’s decision to conduct JEE Main twice a year, students get an opportunity to improve their JEE score in the second attempt, in case they could not give their best shot at the first attempt. Statistics also show that a lot of students improved their score in JEE 2019 April exam after taking the first attempt in January. Having a chance to make a second attempt also provide students the time to understand and work on their mistakes without wasting another year for the preparation and attempt.
Careers360- What role do coaching institutes play in the preparation of JEE Main exam?
Manmohan Gupta- With the competition level of the JEE Main examination on a constant rise, the importance of coaching also increases. Coaching institutions help students by providing constant guidance, motivation, best of classroom teaching, and good study materials. It provides a space which enable student growth by allowing them to indulge in healthy discussion and competition with people having the same goal. Thus, coaching help students benchmark their performance and get an edge as compared to other students.
Careers360- A lot of students find themselves nowhere citing the difficulty level of the exam, either in between of their preparation or at the beginning; what would you say to encourage them?
Manmohan Gupta- “If you can dream it, you can achieve it” -W. A. Ward. It is natural for students to sometimes feel demotivated while preparing for an exam as tough as JEE, and this is where our mentors and founders play the major role in helping students gain back their lost confidence. We constantly remind our students of their dreams which reside on the other side of their comfort zones. Thus, we ensure that our students never forget the importance of determination in achieving success.
Careers360- As an expert, what would you suggest as a thumb rule to follow for JEE Main preparation?
Manmohan Gupta- Hard work and consistency are the only road to success. Be determined to achieve your dream of qualifying JEE Main and put in all that it demands. Practice, practice, practice should be the mantra. Manage your time well, study regularly, keep track of your strong as well as weak areas, and practice as many mock exams as possible. Be focused on the process and enjoy the result later.

if I give 2 mock tests per day of jee mains (full syllabus) for 20 days....will it be beneficial?
Yes, ideally if you have completed your full JEE Syllabus, you must regularly solve one or two Full Syllabus Papers, Previous Years, Mock Tests as well as Test Series, besides regular revision. But do ensure after the test you do proper analysis of the paper and note all the unknown and new information you came across during the test.

is viteee exam easier than jee exam
Two different examinations cannot be compared. Both are set in their own way by the own faculty. I'll just say VITEEE exam is just taken to get admissions into the VIT college whereas JEE is an ALL INDIA level entrance examinations whose papers are set by different IITS each year. And the competition is really high in the second one. So as per my personal opinion and experience, JEE is much tougheer than all the other exams..
