JEE Main 2026 Advisory and Instructions for Session 1 Exam - NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 advisory for session 1 on January 20. All session aspirants are advised ot go through this page for the new JEE Mains advisory and instructions for the exam. It consists of the things to carry to the exam centre, JEE Main exam day guidelines, dress code and much more. As a new step, the authority will allow Sikh candidates to carry their ‘Kara’ and ‘Kirpan’ to the exam hall. JEE Main 2026 aspirants are advised to go through this page for the up-to-date information. As the JEE Main exam starts tomorrow, candidates must strictly follow the session 1 JEE Main advisory 2026.
With the JEE Main 2026 session 1 to begin from tomorrow, January 21, candidates are advised to plan their attire in advance, particularly in colder regions. Candidates can wear jackets, sweaters, or full-sleeved clothing to the examination centre. However, such clothing should not have metal buttons, zippers, badges, or large accessories, as these can delay frisking and security verification. NTA has advised candidates to wear light and simple clothing to avoid complications at entry points.

NTA has asked candidates to stick to the rules as mentioned in the JEE Main session 1 advisory and check the following details in the JEE Main 2026 admit card before reaching the venue-
Exam date and shift time
Test venue address
Time closing the gate
Reporting time for the JEE exam.
Important Documents to be carried on the day of JEE Main exam-
Admit card (with pasted photo and thumb impression)
2 passport-size photos (one for attendance)
Photo id
Attested certificate of JEE Main photo verification (non-Adhaar candidates)
PwD certificate (f needed)
Note the following JEE Mains instructions for session 1 as given below.
As per the new JEE Main dress code, Sikh candidates will be allowed to carry their ‘Kara’ and ‘Kirpan’ to the exam hall.
Visit the JEE Main 2026 exam centre a day before the exam to familiarize with the centre location.
Candidates who did not register with their Aadhaar must reach the test centre at least 1 hour before the time of gate closing. There will be an additional process for biometrics registration for such candidates.
Anyone who reaches later than the gate closing time will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
NTA will do biometric registration linked to the Aadhaar. Hence, the Aadhaar biometric authentication must not be locked.
PwD candidates must report early.
Diabetic candidates can carry sugar tablets or fruits like apple, orange or bananas and transparent water bottles.
Mandatory frisking and biometric attendance if any candidate takes a bio-break.
Candidates must write their name and roll number on the rough sheet provided at the test centre.
Exam takers must drop off the rough sheets and admit card while leaving the exam hall

Yes, NTA has announced that Sikh candidates can carry their Kara and Kirpan to the JEE Main 2026 exam hall.
