Candidates who want to appear for JEE Main exam should have passed or be appearing in Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination. The qualifying examination can include Class 12 conducted by recognised Central or State Boards such as CBSE and CISCE.
Class 12 or 10+2 examination from a recognised board.
Senior Secondary examination through recognised open schooling.
Higher Secondary vocational examination.
A recognised three-year diploma approved by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
Certain examinations completed outside India that are recognised as equivalent to Class 12.
Those who completed their qualifying examination outside India may have to provide an equivalence certificate where required.
Candidates have to secure at least 75% marks to appear for JEE Main 2027 exam. Based on the latest available JEE Main eligibility pattern, the following Class 12th candidates are expected to be eligible:

There is no age limit for a candidate to appear in JEE Main 2027. Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2027 if he/she meets all the eligibility criteria. Students should be aware, however, that each institution may have its own admission requirements. So, NTA has no age limit for JEE Main, but it is recommended that the candidates check the admission process of the college or university where they want to get admission.
JEE Main Paper 1 For BE/BTech/BArch/B.Planning. Students should have studied:
Physics
Mathematical
One subject from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a Technical Vocational Subject
For BArch Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
For B.Planning, the compulsory subject is Mathematics.
There is no minimum percentage fixed in Class 12th just to appear in JEE Main 2027. However, the Class 12th marks requirement becomes important to get admission into NITs, IITs and GFITs. They generally need to secure 75% aggregate marks in class 12th.
Candidates can generally appear for JEE Main exam 2027 for three consecutive years from the year in which they first become eligible. The exam is usually held in two sessions. NTA will inform the number of sessions and attempt opportunities in the JEE Main 2027 information brochure.
However, in some institutes, nationality can play a role in the admission process and the eligibility for seats. Candidates applying from outside India should carefully check the latest NTA instructions and the admission rules of their preferred colleges. Eligible candidates include:
Indian nationals
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates, subject to applicable rules
