QnA related to JEE Main

Ask your question related to JEE Main

Hey! If you're choosing between Aakash and Vedantu for JEE Advanced, Aakash is often considered the better option overall—especially for its strong track record, experienced faculty, and structured approach. Their regular test series, doubt-clearing sessions, and detailed study material give a solid foundation for both JEE Main and Advanced. If you’re okay with a more rigid schedule and possibly higher fees, Aakash gives excellent results year after year. That said, Vedantu is still great for flexible learning at home. But for serious JEE Advanced prep, Aakash usually stands out as the stronger choice.

HEY THERE!!!

  • Your rank in JEE Main is 187,000.
  • At this rank, you will not be able to get popular streams like Computer Science, IT, or Electronics at VSSUT Burla.
  • You also won't be able to get other streams there because the cutoff is normally much better (lower rank).
  • You might have to seek other colleges or private universities where the rank demand is higher.

Hello there,

With a 79.28 percentile in JEE Mains, getting admission in top government engineering colleges (like NITs or IIITs) is unlikely, as their cutoffs are usually higher (above 85–90 percentile).

However, you may still get seats in:

  • Some State Government Engineering Colleges (depending on your state and category).

  • Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) with lower cutoffs.

  • Some less competitive NITs or IIITs if there are leftover seats in later rounds (but chances are low).

You should:

  • Check your state quota counselling for government colleges.

  • Consider private colleges or deemed universities as alternatives.

Good morning Deepak,

I hope you are doing well. As per your mentioned query , JEE exam is a national level of exam which is quite tough to crack. But with right direction and dedication you can clear this exam in first attempt. Here i am sharing some tips:

  1. Firstly, analyse the syllabus and try to know which chapters are important or which are less important.
  2. Start with basics always follow NCERT first as this makes your foundation strong.
  3. Make a productive schedule for your studies.
  4. Give time atleast 7-8 hours daily with full dedication.
  5. Give time more to those topics that are weak for you.
  6. Practice previous year question papers so that you will get an idea of questions coming in exam.
  7. Practice more and more. Use standard books too for your preparation.
  8. Give mocks and analyse your mistakes.
  9. Atlast revision is important. Revise weekly whatever you studied in whole week.

Hello Sofiya,

With a 17,000 rank (74 percentile) in Phase 2 of AEEE and being from Andhra Pradesh, here’s the outlook for CSE admission in Amrita University campuses under Slab 1 or 2:

  • Slab 1 usually admits candidates with ranks up to around 8,000–10,000.

  • Slab 2 covers ranks roughly between 10,000 to 15,000 (sometimes up to 18,000).

Since your rank is 17,000 , it falls toward the higher end or slightly beyond Slab 2.

Chances at Amrita Campuses for CSE:

  • Coimbatore & Amritapuri: These are the main and most competitive campuses. CSE cutoffs here are usually below 10,000 rank in Slab 1 and often below 15,000 in Slab 2.

  • Bangalore & Chennai: Slightly more lenient, but CSE remains highly competitive.

    Considering Your Rank:

  • Getting CSE in Coimbatore or Amritapuri under Slab 1 or 2 is unlikely with rank 17,000.

  • At Bangalore or Chennai campuses , CSE admission might still be difficult under Slab 1 or 2 but slightly more possible depending on available seats and dropouts.

    Your JEE Percentile (87.5)

Amrita University does accept JEE Main scores too, but generally, for CSE, the cutoff is competitive and often requires higher percentile ranks.

Hello Piyush,

With a 300,000 OBC-NCL rank in JEE Main 2025, NITs/IIITs/GFTIs are unlikely (cutoffs: 10,000–50,000). Here are your options:

  1. Private Colleges :

    • Techno India (Kolkata), Amity University, LPU (Punjab), ACS Engineering (Bangalore).

    • Branches: CSE, IT, or Civil/Mechanical.

    • Apply via college websites or management quota.

  2. State Counselling :

    • Uttar Pradesh (IIMT Greater Noida), West Bengal (Haldia Institute).

    • Register for state counselling like WBJEE or UPCET.

  3. Niche Institutes : Check JoSAA/CSAB for final rounds at lesser-known GFTIs.

Advice : Focus on private colleges with good placements (Rs. 5–10 lakh).

With a 92.7%ile in JEE main 2025 and belonging to a general category from Rajasthan , your prospects of securing admissions in top tier NITs are limited . However , you may have opportunities in newer or less competitive NITs
Potential NITs based on your percentile :
NIT Mizoram
NIT Meghalaya
NIT Sikkim
NIT Puducherry
NIT Uttarakhand
NIT Agartala
NIT Manipur

Hello Aryan,

No, they will not reject you just for this — but you must correct your details as soon as possible to avoid issues during JEE counselling and admission .

Here’s what you should do:

1. Correct Details in JEE Records (if possible)

  • If JEE Main correction window is still open or opens again before counselling, you must update your Aadhaar, name, and DOB in the NTA portal.

  • If it’s closed, you can still explain it during counselling with valid documents .

    2. Prepare the Following Documents

To prove your identity and corrections, keep these ready:

  • Updated Aadhaar card with correct name & DOB.

  • Class 10 and 12 marksheets (used as proof of DOB and name).

  • Birth Certificate .

  • Affidavit (if needed) declaring both names refer to the same person.

    • This is helpful in case of document verification confusion.

      3. During Counselling

When registering for JoSAA or CSAB counselling , enter your correct name and DOB (as per updated Aadhaar and marksheets).

  • You may be asked to upload documents for verification.

  • At the time of physical verification (if required), explain the Aadhaar mismatch issue with all supporting documents.

    Important Notes

  • Your application won’t be rejected just for this mismatch if you have valid, matching documents now.

  • Just ensure your counselling registration and final admission documents all carry the correct and updated details.

hey there! with 986/1000 in AP board and 82.74 percentile in JEE mains, you have a good chance of getting Computer Science (CSE) at Sastra University, especially through Stream 1, which gives more weight to board marks( 70% weight to board marks + 30% to JEE mains). Your high board score is a strong point. In stream 2, Competition is tougher as it's based mainly on JEE scores, and your percentile may be too low for top branches like CSE. So Stream 1 is your best chance for CSE at SASTRA. Still, admission depends on overall applicant competition each year. Thank you.

To secure admission in IIIT Delhi through JEE Main , you need a certain good percentile/rank cutoff , which varies based on category and branch . Admission is based on JEE Main percentile + Class 12 marks .

Previous Year Trends:

Branch General (OC) Percentile General Rank Range OBC/SC/ST Percentile
CSE ≥ 98.5+ ≤ 15,000 ≥ 96 (OBC), ≥ 90 (SC/ST)
ECE/CSAI ≥ 97.5+ ≤ 25,000 ≥ 94 (OBC), ≥ 88 (SC/ST)
Mathematics & Computing ≥ 96+ ≤ 40,000 ≥ 92 (OBC), ≥ 85 (SC/ST)

Cutoffs vary yearly based on competition.

Bassically your aim is Rank less then 15k for CSE.

Your aim is Rank less then 25k for ECE.
