The JEE Advanced 2026 exam is likely to be scheduled around mid-May. You must register and appear for JEE Main 2026 to get qualified for JEE Advanced. The JEE Main session 1 registrations are already started and will end on November 27, 2025. Candidates must regularly check the official website for updates and ensure the timely download the admit card. In the meantime, streamlining your preparation around high-yield topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics can significantly improve your chances of scoring well. This guide will walk you through the most scoring chapters to help you focus your time and energy where it matters most.
Chapter-name | Important Topic names | Weightage |
| 10% | |
Modern Physics. |
| 12% |
Electrostatics. |
| 9% |
| 10% | |
Optics. |
| 9% |
Tips: Regularly revise formulas and practice previous year’s papers for topics like Electrostatics and Rotational Motion. This will help to get answers promptly.
Chemistry, divided into Physical, Organic, and Inorganic sections, combines theoretical and practical learning. Chemistry is in itself the most scoring subject. Most important chapters for JEE Advanced Chemistry chapters include:
Chapter-name | Important Topic names | Weightage |
| 10% | |
| 8% | |
Aldehydes and Ketones. |
| 8% |
Thermodynamics. |
| 7% |
| 6% |
Tips: For Organic Chemistry, focus on reaction mechanisms and named reactions. Prioritize NCERT for Inorganic Chemistry.
Mathematics tests analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. Scoring chapters include:
Chapter-name | Important Topic names | Weightage |
Calculus. |
| 20% |
Coordinate Geometry. |
| 10% |
| 14% | |
Vectors and 3D Geometry. |
| 12% |
| 8% |
Tips: Solve multiple problems from Calculus daily and strengthen visualization for Coordinate Geometry and 3D topics.
1. Efficient Use of Time and Effort
High-weightage chapters carry more marks and are frequently tested in exams. By concentrating your preparation on these topics, you maximize the return on the time and effort invested. This focused approach ensures that you cover the most scoring areas thoroughly, rather than spreading yourself thin over the entire syllabus, which can be overwhelming and less productive.
2. Builds Confidence Through Scoring Opportunities
Mastering chapters that contribute significantly to the overall score boosts your confidence. Knowing that you are well-prepared in these key areas reduces exam anxiety and helps maintain a positive mindset during preparation and on the exam day. Confidence gained from securing marks in high-weightage topics often translates into better overall performance.
3. Strategic Advantage in Competitive Exams
Competitive exams like JEE Advanced have unpredictable patterns, but certain chapters consistently carry substantial weight. Focusing on these chapters gives you a strategic edge, enabling you to secure a strong base score. This foundation can be critical in differentiating yourself from other candidates and improving your rank.
4. Better Allocation of Revision Time
Revision is a crucial part of any successful study plan. Knowing which chapters have high weightage allows you to allocate revision time wisely, ensuring these important topics are refreshed multiple times before the exam. This repeated revision solidifies your understanding and reduces the chances of forgetting key concepts during the exam.
5. Helps Identify and Strengthen Weak Areas with Impact
When you focus on high-weightage chapters, you can easily spot specific weak areas that might be costing you valuable marks. Targeted practice and strengthening of these sections can significantly raise your overall score. Addressing weaknesses in high-scoring chapters yields better improvements than working on low-weightage or rarely asked topics.

Hello,
If you appeared for the NIOS October 2024 exam, your passing year will be 2024 (because NIOS counts the year in which the exam is held).
For
JEE Advanced eligibility
:
You can appear in
JEE Advanced only in the year you pass Class 12 and the following year
.
So, since your passing year is 2024 , you are eligible for:
JEE Advanced 2024
JEE Advanced 2025
You will not be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026 , as it will be your third attempt after passing Class 12.
Hope it helps !
Hey,
If you take an additional exam in mathematics from an open board, as you want to pursue engineering, you will have two mark sheets which is not acceptable for JEE Mains or Advanced or JOSSA. NTA and IIT require single 10+2 certificate with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Hi,
JEE Advanced me qualify karne ke liye JEE Main me kisi fixed percentage ki requirement nahi hoti. Percentile aur rank ke basis par cutoff decide hoti hai. JEE Advanced ke liye eligible hone ke liye aapko JEE Main ke Top 2,50,000 rank holders ke andar aane chahiye, sab category mila kar.
Har saal cutoff percentile thoda alag hota hai, par approximate range general (UR) ke liye hoti hai 90–92 percentile tak, EWS ke liye 78–80 percentile tak, OBC-NCL ke liye 73-75 percentile tak, SC ke liye 55-60 percentile tak aur ST ke liye 45-50 percentile tak.
Iska matlab hai ki agar aap SC category se hai, to lagbhag 55 se 60 percentile JEE Main me lana par aap JEE Advanced ke liye qualify kar sakte hai.
Hope it helps!!!

Hello,
Yes, you can start now and prepare for the January attempt of JEE Main . It will be challenging, but with focus and proper planning, it is possible.
Here’s what you can do:
Make a study plan : Divide topics into daily and weekly targets. Focus more on important and high-weightage topics.
Start with basics : Make sure your concepts in Physics, Chemistry, and Math are clear.
Practice regularly : Solve previous year papers and mock tests to understand the exam pattern.
Revise often : Keep revising formulas, important concepts, and tricky problems.
Stay consistent : Even small daily progress is better than irregular study.
If you stay dedicated and follow a strict plan, you can be ready for January.
Hope it helps !
