As per JEE Advanced eligibility criteria, aspiring candidates need to either secure at least 75% aggregate marks (for Gen Category) in the class XII (or equivalent)and 65% aggregate marks (for SC, ST and PwD candidates) or they should be in category-wise top 20-percentile in their respective class XII (or equivalent) board examination. This means that in order to be eligible for IIT admissions through JEE Advanced exam, the candidates need to fulfil either of the two eligibility requirements. Even if you are not among those who are able to score 75% aggregate marks in class 12th examination, you still have the admission opportunity based on top 20 percentile of class 12th board. However, you may wonder how much marks should one secure in class 12th board in order to be eligible for IIT admissions. This article lists the category-wise top 20 percentile of class 12th board exam for the years 2018, 2017 and 2016 for admission into IITs. The date for 2018 was only recently released by JoSAA. Check the top 20 percentile and gear up to score the required cutoff marks.

Top 20 Percentile Cutoff of Class 12 Boards for IIT Admission

How Top 20 Percentile Cutoff of class 12th Boards for IIT Admission is calculated?

  • For calculating top 20 percentile for different class 12th boards, the marks scored in five subjects - (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics, (4) A language and (5) Any subject other than the above four, is taken into account.

  • In case a candidate has taken more than 1 languages as the 4th subject in class 12th, then the language with higher marks will be considered.

  • If candidates have taken more than one subject (any subject other than the above four) as the 5th subject in class 12th, then also the subject with higher marks will be taken into account.

  • If the marks in a subject are not allotted out of 100, then the total marks for a subject will be scaled (up or down) to 100 so that the total aggregate marks is out of 500.

  • In case a candidate passes class XII in 2017, but appears for improvement in one or a few subjects in the year 2018, then the top 20 percentile cutoff for 2017 will be considered. However, if a candidate appears for improvement in all the subjects in 2018, then in this case, best of the two performances (2017 or 2018) will be considered. Thus, candidates appearing for improvement in the next year are advised to take all the 5 papers, as their aggregate marks for the year (in which they appear for improvement) will only be considered only if they appear in the improvement in all 5 subjects.

lowering of vapour pressure of equimolar solution of glucose, sodium chloride and barium nitrate are in the order

prem meghani 7th Dec, 2019
Dear Aspirant,

Vant Hoff factor =i
For Barium nitrate,i=3,
2Ba+ No3-

For Nacl,i=2Na+ Cl-
i=2 vant Hoff factor

For glucose vant Hoff factor will be 1
I=1

So higher the vant Hoff factor higher will be the loweirng of vapour pressure.
So barium nitrate will have highest lowering in vapour pressure

Order will be barium nitrate>Nacl>glucose

Thanks
All the very best.

Is HC Verma is sufficient for physics in JEE ADVANCED . R.D sharma and M.L khanna for MATHMATICS in JEE ADVANCED.....

Avishek Dutta 6th Dec, 2019
HC Verma and ML Khanna are good books for JEE but arenit sufficient.
For physics
1.Buy NCERT for understanding the syllabus and studying the basics
2.Buy any one of this
i.Arihant ii.Cengage
Now I woukd prefer Cengage for JEE advanced as the book thoroughly follows jee advanced patterns.
And now study and solve them .
3.You can solve HC Verma or IRODOV if you want.
For Mathematics
1.Buy Cengages or Arihant books
Solve as much as you can from them
2.Tomato can be also a good book for solving.
Atlast solve the previous years JEE papers .

Which book is most important for physics , chemistry and mathematics for JEE ADVANCED... for 2021 exam.. From now onwards

Saurabh Siddharth 6th Dec, 2019

Following is the list of few books for better preparation of JEE ADVANCE:

  • Physics- DC PANDEY, HC VERMA, CENGAGE
  • CHE- CENGAGE, NCERT (has much importance for inorganic and organic)
  • MATHS- CENGAGE, AARIHANT

You can prefer any book from above.

Suggestions

  • Do NCERT as well for jee advance. It would help you much.

Do HC Verma alongwith anyone to the other two but atleast complete anyone book. HC Verma would help you to clear the basics and you find it easy to solve other books after going through it.
