KRCL Recruitment Through GATE 2025 - Selection Procedure
Below is the selection process for KRCL recruitment through GATE
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the GATE scores, Group Discussion, a Presentation and a Personal Interview

Selection and Training: Selected candidate will be appointed as Assistant Engineer. They will have to undergo training & probation for a period of two years
Pay Scale: During training, candidates will be paid 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level -8 (Grade Pay Rs. 4800/-). After the completion of training and probation payment will be regularised in pay Matrix level 10 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level- 10 (Grade Pay Rs. 5400/-).
Service Agreement Bond: Selected candidates have to execute a service agreement bond to complete the training as well as the probation period and serve the organization for at least five years. Candidates who fail to serve the organization or resign from service during training/probation or within a period of five years after the training &/or probation period will have to refund the whole cost of training & probation, cost of boarding and lodging, stipend/pay and/ allowances of any kind as well as any other amount paid during the period of probation with 12.5% as interest on the whole amount.
Note: Suitable candidates who are shortlisted will be placed in a list that will be valid for a period of 1 year from the declaration of the result. Any future vacancies that may arise within the year will be filled from this list subject to the decision of KRCL in this regard

If you are interested in Development Studies and planning to appear for GATE XH C6 (Sociology), then you are already moving in the right direction. Having a backlog does not disqualify you from pursuing higher studies, as long as you clear it before the admission process begins. Since you mentioned that you can clear the backlog before February 2026, it should not affect your eligibility for PG admissions. Most universities require a completed bachelor’s degree with no active backlog at the time of admission.
Your CGPA of 6.9 is acceptable for many institutes, although some top institutes may have higher cutoffs. Your interest in sociology and Development Studies will be helpful because the GATE XH paper tests conceptual understanding. If you prepare consistently and score well in GATE, you can apply to reputed institutes offering Development Studies such as IITs, TISS, JNU, Azim Premji University, and others.
