You cannot change your name once if you have submitted the online GATE application form. No requests to change the name will be entertained. And the authorities will only check the errors such as errors in photograph, signature, category certificate, photo identity etc. They will not verify your personal details that's why you were not informed about the mistake in name.It is your responsibility to check the details before final submission. You cannot do anything about this, if the details are incorrect then your candidature will get cancelled.

why TSPGECET is still extending gate registration
TSPGECET has released its results and you can check your score by going on its official website. Candidates seeking admission based on their TSPGECET score will be called for counselling. And candidates seeking admission based on their GATE score will also be called for counselling.
Slow counselling process due to ongoing COVID unlock guidelines might be one of the reasons why there is a delay in the process.
Hope this helps.
Can i apply for gate 2021 after the registration date (October 4) is over ?
No you actually can't apply after the registration date is over, if they extend the registration date then you can apply.
So best of luck !
