Hello there,

To get admission in an IIT for M.Tech through the GATE exam , there are a few important factors to consider. Here's a breakdown:

1. Required Marks for Admission:

  • GATE Score : The marks required to secure admission to an IIT vary each year based on the difficulty of the exam and the number of applicants. However, generally, a good GATE score for IITs is between 700-800 . For top IITs (like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur), a score around 750-800 would make you competitive, especially in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch.

  • Rank : Your rank is crucial. To get into top IITs for M.Tech in CSE, you generally need to be within the top 200-300 ranks (though this varies by IIT and the number of seats available). For lower IITs, the rank cutoff could go higher.

    2. Stipend or Scholarship:

  • M.Tech Stipend : If you qualify for M.Tech admission in IITs, you will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 12,400 (as of 2024) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) or similar schemes.

  • Eligibility for Stipend : You need to maintain a minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in your M.Tech coursework to continue receiving the stipend. You also need to be a full-time student .

    3. Requirements for General Category:

  • Eligibility : To appear for the GATE exam as a general category candidate, you need to have:

    • B.Tech/B.E. in CSE or Equivalent (in your case, you’re a CSE student, so you meet this requirement).

    • A minimum of 50% marks in your degree (if you are from a general category).

    • A valid GATE score based on the score cutoffs in each IIT (generally, above 700 for the top IITs).

  • Age Limit : There is no age limit for GATE, so you can attempt it in any year as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

  • Application : Apply for GATE via the official GATE website, and be sure to check the eligibility conditions and documents needed before applying.

    Key Tips for Preparation:

  • Focus on Core Subjects : For CSE, focus on subjects like Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Theory of Computation, etc.

  • Time Management : Start preparing early (around 3rd year if possible). Make sure you are clear on the syllabus and exam pattern .

  • Mock Tests and Previous Year Papers : Take as many mock tests as possible to identify weak areas. Solve previous year papers to understand the exam's structure and improve time management.

    Conclusion:

Aiming for a 700+ GATE score is a solid target to get into an IIT, especially for Computer Science. Additionally, with the stipend eligibility, you can expect financial support if you get into an IIT for M.Tech. Since you're in your 3rd year, starting early with consistent preparation will be key to securing a good rank.

With 101 marks in NEET and being in the SC category, you have a possibility of getting admission to BHMS, though the exact outcome depends on the cutoffs for the specific year and college. You may need to check the category-wise cutoff for accurate information.

Hello there,

No, if you registered for GATE 2025 under the General category , you cannot switch to the GEN-EWS category after the registration deadline. Your category at the time of registration will be considered final for result processing and admissions.

What You Can Do:

  • Contact GATE Authorities : If the application correction window is still open, you can update your category to GEN-EWS and upload the valid certificate.

  • Post-Result Scenario : Even if you produce an EWS certificate later, it will not change your category for GATE results or admissions.

It’s crucial to choose the correct category during registration and make changes within the correction period, if applicable.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

If you have filled out the GATE 2025 form under the EWS category and qualify for the exam, but your score doesn't meet the General category cutoff, you generally do not need to submit the EWS certificate to get the stipend, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria for the stipend based on your qualification.

Your eligibility for the stipend may still depend on your qualification and performance in the exam. In some cases, if you're qualifying in the exam, you may still be eligible for the stipend, even if you don't meet the General category cutoff.

For reservation benefits (such as admission through GATE in the EWS category), you will need to submit your EWS certificate. However, if you're not seeking admission through GATE (since you're already pursuing a dual degree) and your primary concern is the stipend, you may not need to submit the EWS certificate, unless specified

Hello Anushka,

The eligibility criteria for M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at UIT RGPV Bhopal are as follows:

1. Educational Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) or any relevant branch of engineering with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).

  • Candidates should have completed the undergraduate program from a recognized university .

    2. Admission Process :

Admission to M.Tech CSE at UIT RGPV Bhopal is primarily through two channels:

  • GATE Score :

    • Candidates must have a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score. GATE is the most preferred method for admission.

    • The valid GATE score will depend on the year’s cutoff and the branch-specific requirements.

  • CUET PG Score :

    • CUET PG (Central Universities Entrance Test for Postgraduate courses) is another way to apply if the university considers it for the course.

    • Admission based on CUET PG score may depend on the university’s preferences and specific program requirements. Check the university’s official website or brochure for updates.

      3. Cutoff Marks :

  • GATE Cutoff :

    • The cutoff marks vary every year based on factors like the number of applicants, difficulty level of the exam, and available seats.

    • Generally, for a general category , the cutoff for CSE is around 600-700 marks , but it may fluctuate depending on the year and competition.

  • CUET PG Cutoff :

    • If CUET PG is used for admission, the cutoff score for CSE will be released by the university based on the exam’s difficulty and the number of applicants.

      4. Other Requirements :

  • Some additional documents or an interview may be required depending on the university's rules.

Note : It is always advisable to visit the official UIT RGPV Bhopal website for the latest and most accurate details regarding eligibility, admission, and cutoff requirements.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

Hello aspirant,

Electronics and Communication Engineering is an engineering subject that designs, develops, and tests electronic circuits and communication equipment. GATE ECE graduates work in many areas, such as telecommunications, aerospace, and automotive. They study digital and analog signal transmission and reception, microprocessors, communication tools, etc. while pursuing their M. Tech degree in electronics and communication engineering. ECE engineers can work as RF engineers, quality assurance engineers, communication engineers, and more.

Thank you

For the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) discipline, DRDO requires candidates to have at least a First Class Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology specifically in Computer Science & Engineering or equivalent fields.

Your Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree is in Civil Engineering, it does not align with the required educational qualifications for the Computer Science & Engineering discipline as stipulated by DRDO. Therefore, even with a valid GATE score in Computer Science, you would not meet the eligibility criteria for DRDO's Scientist 'B' positions in the CSE discipline.

Your B.Tech. in Civil Engineering makes you eligible for DRDO positions in the Civil Engineering discipline, provided you have a valid GATE score in Civil Engineering.

Unfortunately, since you fall short of a very small percentage, you won't be able to qualify this time. You can consider getting admitted without a scholarship or retake the examination once again and improve your score and then do the MTech program along with a scholarship.

All the best
