BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024 - Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are required to meet some eligibility criteria specified by the authorities for BIS recruitment through GATE 2024. If the candidates are not able to meet the criteria, then they are not considered for recruitment into the available posts.

• Nationality - Candidates should be of Indian nationality.

• Age Limit - The candidates should be maximum 30 years of age. Relaxation in upper age limit is given to the following categories:

  • SC/ST - Upto 5 years

  • OBC - Upto 3 years

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (UR) - Upto 10 years

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (SC/ST) - Upto 15 years

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (OBC) - Upto 13 years

The upper age limit for Departmental candidates serving in BIS and meeting the required criteria is 50 years.

• Qualifying Exam - Should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent with not less than 60% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST candidates).

• GATE - Candidates must have a valid GATE score in the corresponding paper.

Steps to Apply for BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024

The authority has released the application form for BIS recruitment through GATE 2024, 2023, 2022. Candidates must fill out the application form in online mode and submit it before the final date. No other mode of application submission will be accepted by the authorities. The given steps could be followed by the candidates to apply for BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024:

• Go to the official website (www.bis.gov.in).

• Click on “Register (New Candidate)”. Name, contact details and email ID had to be entered by the candidates. The application number will be generated.

• The required personal, academic and other details had to be provided by the candidates.

• Photograph, signature, date of birth document, GATE scorecard, Identity proof, degree and mark sheet of essential qualification, degree and mark sheet of higher/additional qualifications (if any), category certificate (if applicable).

• Payment of fees had to be done in online mode (net banking/credit card/debit card).

• Before submission of the application form, the candidates had to verify the entire application form.

• After the application form, candidates had to click on “Final Submit”.

BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024 - Selection Procedure

• Shortlisting - Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of GATE 2024 score. The candidates will be listed as per their merit in GATE score. In case, two or more candidates have the same GATE score, then the ranks in the merit list will be decided based on the following criteria:

  • Candidates with higher percentile will be given higher preference. The percentile will be calculated by (the number of candidates who appeared in the concerned GATE paper - All India Rank of the candidate in the concerned GATE paper)/Number of candidates who appeared in the concerned GATE paper.

  • If the tie still persists, then the candidates higher in age will be given seniority in the merit list.

• Personal Interview - The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the personal interview after completion of the document verification process. Candidates will be informed about the date, time and venue of the interview through email.

• Final Merit List - The final list of candidates will be selected on the basis of merit determined by the aggregate marks obtained by giving 85% weightage to GATE scores and the remaining 15% weightage to marks secured in the interview.

BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024

The authorities will announce the list of the shortlisted candidates for BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024. A separate offer of appointment letter will be issued to all the selected candidates at their registered email ID only. The offer of appointment is provisional and is subject to:

• Production of Medical Certificate of Fitness issued by the prescribed Medical Board in the required proforma on or before the date of joining but in any case, not later than three months from the date of joining.
• Verification of Caste Certificate through proper channels not later than six months from the date of joining. If the verification reveals that the claim of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC (including belonging to non creamy layer)/ EWS is false, the services of such candidates will be terminated forthwith without assigning any further reasons and without prejudice to such further action as may be taken under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code for production of false certificate.
• Production of Original Certificates and Testimonials along with their photostat copies, duly self attested, relating to his/her date of birth, educational qualifications, degree, marks sheet, experience, GATE Scorecard and caste certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidate etc., as entered in original application.
• Production of Relieving/Release order from his/her present employer, if any.
• Antecedent clearance by an appropriate authority not later than six months from the date of joining.
• No person who has entered into, or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, or who having a spouse living has entered into, or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to any post.

BIS Recruitment through GATE 2024 - Important Service Conditions

Surety Bond - Appointed candidates will have to furnish a surety bond for serving the Bureau for a minimum period of three years. In case, a candidate decides to leave the service either by resignation or absence without permission before completing three years from the date of employment, he/she shall be required to reimburse the Bureau six month’s emoluments at the rate last drawn by him/her unless he/she has worked for a shorter period of time in which case he/she will be required to reimburse the full amount drawn by him/her.

Probation - 2 years

Service Benefits - Leave/LTC Medical benefits include leave encashment for 15 days in a year as per BIS guidelines/Central government rules.

Candidates shall intimate the undersigned within 07 days, whether or not, they accept the offer of appointment. All the candidates who accept the offer are required to report for the duty on September 6 on the following address:

Documents required at the time of reporting

• Original Certificates and Testimonials along with their Photostat copies relating to his/her date of birth, educational qualifications, degree, mark sheet, experience and caste certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates (along with non-creamy layer status the date of issue of which shall not be older than three years )/ EWS etc., as entered in his original application.
• Relieving/Releasing order from his/her present employer (if any).
• Two copies of his/her recent coloured photograph strictly of the size of 2cm x 3cm.
• Attestation Form, Identity Certificate, and Declaration Form duly completed in all respects in the required proforma, which will be sent along with the offer of appointment letter.
• Home Town Declaration in the required format, which will be sent along with the offer of appointment letter.
• Declaration regarding proficiency/working knowledge in Hindi, in duplicate, in the required proforma, which will be sent along with the offer of appointment letter.
• Surety bond along with a surety on a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.100.00 in the format, which will be sent along with an offer of appointment letter.

Guidelines in view of COVID-19

• Candidates should be wearing facemasks at the time of joining, the training class, and while in public places/areas. They should also have Aarogya April 2024setu app.
• Social Distancing norms shall be followed at all times.
• Since single-room accommodation will be provided for the duration of Induction Training, candidates are advised to come alone.
• Thermal Scanning will be done at entry of Training Institute premises.
• In case any candidate is under quarantine/tested positive for COVID-19/ having symptoms of COVID-19, he or she should seek an extension in joining.
• The relevant guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and appropriate Authorities, from time to time, shall be followed.
