How to Calculate JEE Mains Percentile 2026?

JEE Main candidates should know about how JEE Main percentile score is calculated using marks. The NTA uses a normalisation formulae to obtain the percentile score using the raw marks of the candidates who have appeared for JEE Main exam in that shift. Below is the step-by-step process on how the JEE Main percentile score is calculated.

  • First, the number of students who have appeared for the JEE Main exam in that particular shift must be taken.

  • The raw score of the students who appeared for the exam in the shift has to be taken. Raw score means the result score of the candidates of JEE Main exam calculated according to marking scheme.

  • The percentile score is calculated using the following formula.

What to do after Scoring 53 Marks in JEE Mains 2026?

Candidates scoring 53 marks in JEE Mains 2026 will not be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam. Because their rank would be around 2.9 lakh. The authority allows only top 2.5 lakh JEE Main 2026 qualified students to apply for the JEE Advanced exam. However, these JEE Main 53 marks candidates can get a seat in any of NIT institutes through JoSAA 2026 counselling. Apart from these, candidates can also apply for engineering entrance exams conducted by respective state governments and private institutes like Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetham, BITS Pilani, SRM, VIT and others.
