Careers360: Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Which branch would you be interested in? Any reason?
Sarvesh Mehtani: I wanted to study engineering after watching 3 idiots. The branch that I am interested in is Computer Science.
Careers360: When did you start your JEE Advanced preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Advanced?
Sarvesh Mehtani: I had a very regular preparation. The total preparation for JEE Main and JEE Advanced was a little different. I think the preparation should be normally done till 12th standard with the 10th and 12th syllabus and everyone should orient themselves a little towards the JEE Mains because there are little extra topics. But after the JEE Mains are done, you can start preparation for JEE Advanced. I think I prepared 2 months for JEE Main and around 2 or 1 and a half months for JEE Advanced. I think that much of time is enough.
Careers360: How was the preparation for JEE Advanced different from JEE Main?
Sarvesh Mehtani: It was nothing different. Just that for JEE Advanced, there is a high amount of pressure as compared to other exams.
Careers360: Did you take JEE Main 2017 examination in online or offline mode?
Sarvesh Mehtani: I took the JEE Main 2017 exam in offline mode as everyone seemed to opt for that.
Careers360: Did you take coaching for JEE and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?
Sarvesh Mehtani: I took coaching from Lakshya Institute. The benefits of coaching were huge. I was supported throughout the journey by the institute and they also acted as mentors to me.
Careers360: Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practice with the help of these? Do you think to practice from the previous year papers help and how?
Sarvesh Mehtani: Yes, mock tests are crucial. It is very important to orient yourselves towards the different patterns that the exam can have. I practised mock tests at least once in 3 or 2 days. I practised overall mock test and not subject wise as in the last month the preparation should consist of complete revision and not particular topics.
Careers360: Are there any special books that you feel have helped with your JEE Advanced preparation?
Sarvesh Mehtani: I used many subject wise books. I did not use any special books during the preparation.
Careers360: What is the main difference between both the two papers in JEE Advanced?
Sarvesh Mehtani: There was no difference between the two papers of JEE Advanced 2017.
Careers360: Did you face any problem during the JEE Advanced examination? Which subject was the easiest and which was the toughest in JEE Advanced? What do you think is a tough thing to manage during the JEE Advanced exam?
Sarvesh Mehtani: I did not face many problems during the JEE Advanced 2017 examination. The time factor was not as issue as the paper was less lengthy as compared to previous year papers.

Sarvesh Mehtani: My inspiration is Sir Narayana Murthy.

Questions related to JEE Advanced
If I take admission in NIT KKR Mechanical branch in 2020.Whether can I attend Jeemains 2021 and Jee Advance 2021 again. Please answer.
If you take admission this year and want to reappear for jee 2021 then you will have to pay the fees for all the four years in NIT KKR. And you cannot focus both on jee and your first year of engineering equally either of your preparation will degrade and you might end up losing both. If you are sure that you will get a better college than nit kkr and are confident only then consider taking a drop because handling both jee and engineering at once is difficult and will exhaust soon. Hope my answer solved your query. All the best

can you suggest any preparation course or any platform for jee advanced 2025 and neet 2025 (including 12th board 2025)
You have a lot of time to prepare for jee mains and jee advanced 2020.Since you will be giving jee in 2025, as per calculation you must be studying 8th class. So this is the right time to get command over even small topics in difficult subjects like maths and physics.More than maths, please concentrate more on physics as physics will be difficult for both jee and neet and both the examinations have negative marks as per 2020 pattern.Keep learning concepts , understand them and don't leave any topic unattended.Students who are strong in foundations in the subject have greater chances of scoring really well in jee or neet.
You can refer online platforms like
- khan academy
for online video concepts to get your doubts solved
can I crack iit jee in 14 months ?how many hrs should I have to study?
Nothing is impossible if you are determined.
Remember that self study and analysis is the most powerful tool to crack any exam.
Don't forget to strengthen your core concepts of each subject with NCERT.
Apart from this you need to take proper guidance ( if you are a newbie ) so you can either take classroom or correspondence Couse provided by various institutions.
If not interested , then do study and practice questions from books provided by Arihant publications for JEE preparation as they do cover a majority of topics and questions which are essential for jee preparation and gives boost to your preparations.
Then you can definitely achieve your aim in your quoted time.
I hope this helps
