    What is NIT Cutoff?

National Institute of Technology's Cutoff is the rank criteria to be used in JoSAA counselling for the BTech and other undergraduate courses provided by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs). It is the range of the JEE Main ranks in which seats are allotted in an institute and course.

Each NIT has a different cut-off for each branch, category, gender and quota (Home State and Other State). As it keeps changing annually based on various factors like number of seats, preferences, competition etc., candidates must take into consideration the latest cutoff trends to gauge their admission prospects and make an informed choice-filling strategy.

Why Do NIT CSE Cutoffs Change Every Year?

There are certain factors which influence the admission process, such as the cutoffs of NIT CSE keep changing from year to year. The following are some of the major factors:

    • Number of candidates appearing for JEE Main

    • The level of JEE Main examination

    • Changes in JoSAA seat matrix and seat availability

    • The popularity and placement record of specific NITs is given.

    • The demand for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branches is high.

    • The school determines the number of students to be assigned to each Home State (HS) and Other State (OS) reservation.

    • The trends of JoSAA counselling and candidate preferences.

    • Introduction of new branches or increase in seat intake.
