    GATE 2027 Virtual Calculator - IIT Madras will provide the GATE virtual calculator 2027 at the time of the test. Since candidates wil not be allowed to carry a physical one, they will be offered a virtual calculator for GATE 2027. All aspirants should give mok tests to know how to do use the on-screen calculator during the GATE 2027 exam. The clickable icon is present at the top right corner of the interface. The authority will conduct the GATE exam on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 14, 2027.

    GATE Virtual Calculator 2027- Features

    Some of the features are given below so that the candidates can learn how to use GATE 2027 virtual calculator:

    • Candidates appearing for the GATE 2027 exam will be allowed to use the virtual calculator of GATE 2027 by the authorities at the exam centres.

    • This calculator was introduced during the GATE 2016 exam.

    • The yellow calculator icon will be present at the top right corner.

    This is How the GATE Virtual Calculator Looks-

    • The keys for simple operations will be available on the right-hand side of the GATE 2027 virtual calculator.

    • For scientific functions and operations, the keys will be placed on the left-hand side of the virtual calculator.

    • Inverse functions will have separate keys so the candidates will not be required to click SHIFT or INV keys.

    • The inverse functions will be below the respective functions. For example, sininv will be available below sin on the calculator.

    • Candidates will be able to find the trigonometric functions grouped.

    • The hyperbolic functions will also be grouped in the virtual calculator of GATE 2027.

    • Candidates can see two display boxes at the top of the virtual calculator. One of the boxes will indicate the sequence of the keys pressed by the candidate for reference.

    • The other box will show the actual entered values or those obtained after the calculation is done.

    GATE 2027 Exam Day Guidelines

    Candidates should follow the GATE 2027 exam hall instructions carefully, including proper ID, allowed items, and seating arrangements.

    • Carry the GATE admit card 2027 and a recent, valid photo id on the day of the exam.

    • Report to the exam centre 90 minutes before the scheduled exam commencement. Candidates will not be allowed to log in 30 minutes after the start of the exam.

    • Candidates are allowed to log in and read the instructions 20 minutes before exam commencement.

    • Carry your own pen, pencil, transparent water bottle, mask, and pocket-sized hand sanitizer.

    • It is always advisable to give a quick reading of the question paper so you can gauge how to crack it. Use the “View All Questions Button” for quick reading. This will allow you to decide and plan the sequence of the sections you need to attempt.

    • Next, start the exam by clicking on the section you wish to attempt. Most toppers suggest starting with the subject section as the GA and Engineering Maths sections are easy and scoring ones.

    • Most students find the 1 mark questions to be easier to answer as compared to the 2 mark questions which require analysis and deduction. If this holds true for you, start with the 1 marks ones first.

    • Answer those questions that you know the answers to so that you build a score as you go. This will build your confidence before you move to the hard ones.

    • A very important tip is to remember to save each answer before you move to the next ones else they will be lost and you won’t have time to redo them.

    • Another tip is to note the question numbers that you know but need a bit of time on the scribble pad. This will help you get faster to them when you are ready to answer them.

    • Answer all the questions that you know the answers to and are pretty sure of. Don't waste time on questions that you are not sure of or don’t know the answers to

    • After answering the questions you know the answers to, move to the ones that you kept for later and start answering them

    • Remember that numerical questions require a degree of precision so keep that in mind and calculate carefully. Silly mistakes are common when you are in a hurry.

    • Don’t waste a lot of time on any problem. Time is of the essence so attempt wisely and well.

    • Since there is negative marking, avoid answering questions you don’t know the answers to so you don’t lose precious marks on a fluke.

    • Plan and answer such that you have a bit of time to check your answers toward the end of the exam.

    Things to carry for the gate exam

    As per the GATE exam day instructions, candidates will be allowed to carry only a few items inside the exam centre. Detailed information about things to carry for the GATE exam will be made available by the concerned authorities through the admit card.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    Q: Can a student get a stand-alone calculator app for their mobile or computer?
    A:

    No, the candidates will not be allowed to access a stand alone calculator since it will be available only in online mode. An internet connection will be required to load the calculator on your computer or mobile.

    Q: How to represent Complex numbers?
    A:

    Questions related to any area related to complex numbers such as power systems or any other area, can be solved using the virtual calculator for GATE 2027.

    Q: How to do the calculations involving fractions?
    A:

    The numerical based questions will have answers only in decimal form. Therefore, there will be no provision for fractions.

    Q: How to convert polar to rectangular form and vice versa?
    A:

    Since there are no separate keys for this function, the candidates will have to use the appropriate conversions using the calculator.

    Q: How to solve quadratic, cubic or simultaneous equations?
    A:

    These types of equations cannot be done in the virtual calculator since it is not programmed.

    Q: How to carry out Matrix operations like inverse, transpose etc?
    A:

    Candidates will have to manually do these operations since the virtual calculators are not programmed for it.

    Q: How to access the values of constants like Planck’s constant, electron mass etc.?
    A:

    Any constant needed for solving problems will be present in the question paper of GATE 2027. Wherever the constant is not mentioned, the candidates are required to know it beforehand.

    Q: Will I be able to use the keyboard?
    A:

    No. Candidates will not be allowed to use the keyboard during the examination.
