The authority has announced that it will provide a virtual GATE scientific calculator.GATE is a tough exam, held for master's level admissions. The level of calculations involved is higher and often involves complex calculations. Carrying any physical calculator is prohibited. Instead, the exam conducting body provides a virtual scientific calculator for GATE. It will help candidates solve questions quickly and effectively.
The GATE 2026 calculator will be visible on the exam panel in the top corner. However, candidates will have to click on the relevant icon to expand and use it. IIT Guwahati has activated the GATE mock test link 2026. Students can use the mock tests provided by the authority to know where the GATE scientific calculator 2026 can be found.

During the exam, log in to the portal using the details provided in the admit card.
Accept the declaration and submit.
Proceed to the questions.
As soon as the test starts, candidates will be able to see a small calculator icon.
The GATE 2026 scientific calculator icon will be visible above the timer, in the top right corner.
When clicked, the icon will expand to show the actual GATE virtual calculator.

The candidate can also use the help button, given on the calculator, to know its features and limitations. Here are some of the dos and don'ts when using the calculator
Available features are - square root, cube root, modulus, trigonometric, exponential, hyperbolic functions, imaginary operations, logarithmic functions etc
Press C before starting a new calculation.
Use parentheses to simplify an equation or any other mathematical operation.
Pi, log Exp functions can be used by clicking on the relevant icon to save time.
GATE 2026 scientific calculator has a memory function-
M+: To add the displayed value to memory
M-: To subtract the displayed value from memory
MR: To recall the stirred value
The default angle unit is degree. There is an option to choose between Deg or Rad.
Keyboard will be disabled
Factorial calculation provides exact output up to 14 digits.
Hyperbolic and Logarithmic output can be calculated up to 5 digits.
Mod operation works best for smaller numbers. Calculations with a decimal number with 15 or more digits will not be precise.
The range of values supported by the GATE 2026 scientific calculator is 10^(-323) to 10^(308).
