JAC Chandigarh B.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2017 - Application for JAC Chandigarh B.Tech 2017 opened on June 5 and will close on June 22, 2017. The application process includes steps like filling the registration form and paying the registration fee of Rs 2100 ( Rs.1050 in case of reserved category candidates). Payments can be made either online or offline. Before filling the registration form, the candidates need to check the eligibility criteria of JAC Chandigarh B.Tech 2017 to ensure they meet the admission requiements. Among the key eligibility criteria for admission include academic qualification, like the candidate needs to score at least 60% marks in aggregate in five subjects; reserved category candidates need only 55% aggregate marks. These five subjects include three compulsory subjects – Language, Physics, and Mathematics; one subject from any of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject; and finally the fifth subject can be any other subject. JAC Chandigarh B.Tech Eligibility 2017 Criteria
Candidatesseeking admission to engineering programmes at engineering colleges in Chandigarh have to meet each of the following eligibility criteria of JAC Chandigarh B.Tech 2017 to be eligible for admission.
Nationality: Unless applying to JAC Chandigarh B.Tech 2017 under NRI category, the candidate needs to be an Indian National.
Academic Qualification: Candidates need to have passed Class XII or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2015 or 2016. Those candidates who are appearing in Class XII or equivalent exam in 2017 can also apply.
Subjects in Qualifying Examination: The minimum number of subjects that the candidate must have taken in Class XII/qualifying exam is five.
Among these five subjects, 1) Language, 2) Physics, and 3) Mathematics are compulsory subjects.
The fourth subject can be any of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject
The candidate may choose any other subject as the fifth subject
Minimum Pass Percentage in Qualifying Examination: The candidate needs to have scored minimum 60% aggregate marks in Class XII in the five subjects taken togheter. Reserved category candidates ( ST/ST/PwD/ BC) are eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum aggregate requirement.
JEE Main Score: Admission will be conducted on the basis of JEE Main 2017 score of the candidate. So the candidate needs to ensure that he/she has a valid JEE Main score when filling the application form of JAC Chandigarh 2017.
Physical and Mental Health: The candidate needs to be in good mental and physical health.
Eye Vision: The vision requirements for candidates applying for admission through JAC Chandigarh B.Tech 2017 is given in the table below:

Note: Candidates who have passed Class XII examination held in March/April 2017 with compartmental will not be eligible for admission even if the candidate clears the same exam, by appearing in a supplementary examination, before counselling/reporting dates.
JAC Chandigarh B.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2017: NRI Category
From the academic year 2017-18, “Foreign National/NRI” has been replaced by “NRI” category.
Eligibility for admission under NRI seats
a) No specific category has been set aside for Foreign Nationals. However, Foreign Nationals may be considered for admission if the case has been sent to Panjab University by ICCR or any Ministry of the Indian Government provided the Foreign National meets all the eligiblity criteria of the course applied for.
b) As admission criteria under NRI category has been changed, so admission under NRI category via any scheme of the Government of India that has been already approved, including DASA (UIET/UICET), would not be valid.
c) The candidate needs to be of Indian origin but citizen of a country other than India can apply under NRI category
d) Those who are overseas citizens of India can also apply
e) Candidates who are sons/daughters of people of Indian Origin (who may, or may not be citizen of any country other than India), or of Overseas Indian Citizens, given they have been living in that country for a minimum period of three years immediately preceding the year of admission.
