The NIRF ranks are devised to compare the performance of different colleges. The parameters are carefully formulated to judge the educational excellence, scientific approach to the curriculum, teaching expertise, quality of infrastructure and much more. Not only does it measure the placement performance, but also the number of students who opt for higher studies, which shows the actual impact of education.
Students generally choose a college based on certain preconceived notions. For instance, most of the JEE Advanced Toppers choose IIT Bombay for BTech CSE whereas IIT Madras has been the top engineering college in India for the past five years and has fared well in all the NIRF categories. Therefore, one should keep in mind the several attributes of a college education. Students are advised to choose an institution based on year wise comparison of the NIRF ranking, because, it acts as an indicator of high education standards.
