Joint Entrance Examination Mains (JEE Mains): This national-level computer-based exam is conducted for admission to B.E/B.Tech/B.Planning/B.Arch courses. The JEE Main consists of two papers: Paper 1 is for admission to B.E/B.Tech programs at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, while Paper 2 is for B.Arch and B.Planning courses at various institutes that accept JEE Main scores. The top 2,50,000 rank holders in the JEE Main 2024 rank list will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam.
Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced): The JEE Advanced is a crucial test for admission to B.E/B.Tech, Integrated Master’s, and Dual Degree programs at top institutions. This exam is coordinated by seven Zonal IITs: IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee.
SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE): The SRMJEE is a university-level online exam for admission to B.Tech courses at SRMIST campuses. It covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics based on the 10+2 syllabus.
Manipal University Online Entrance Test: The MET conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), is an entrance exam for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. MAHE, formerly known as Manipal University, offers a range of courses including B.Tech, M.Tech, M.E, B.Pharm, Pharm.D, M.Pharm, B.A., and BBA.
Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK UGET): The COMEDK UGET is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually. Managed by COMEDK, this exam provides opportunities for candidates to seek admission into B.Tech programs across around 170 participating institutions.
Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT): The BITSAT is a computer-based exam conducted by BITS Pilani for admission to its undergraduate engineering programs. VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE): The VITEEE is conducted annually by VIT University for admission to its undergraduate engineering programs across its campuses.
Amrita Entrance Examination Engineering (AEEE): The AEEE is an online test conducted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for admission to its undergraduate engineering programs. Candidates can apply through AEEE or JEE Main, with 70% of seats allocated through AEEE and 30% through JEE Main.

Here is a list of the toughest JEE Main question papers from the past years based on student reviews and expert analysis. These shifts are widely considered the hardest because maths was very lengthy, physics was tricky, and chemistry had unpredictable questions.
For 2024, the toughest papers were 4 April Shift 1, 8 April Shift 2, 9 April Shift 1 and 6 April Shift 2.
For 2023, the toughest papers were 29 January Shift 2, 30 January Shift 1 and 1 February Shift 2.
