Hands-on learning and upskilling have become paramount in today’s world where AI is getting integrated into every task. NxtWave of Innovation in Advanced Technologies (NIAT) is one of the industry-led upskilling programs that helps students and working professionals to become industry-ready. However, before joining NIAT, students must ask: Why are you enrolling in NxtWave? Would you get an UGC approved degree from NxtWave? Are placements guaranteed at NxtWave?

Before diving into the topic, let us understand NIAT and edtech companies and how they work. Edtech companies follow three models:
Model 1: The Standalone Certification Model
Model 2: The Embedded University Model

Whether you join NxtWave of Innovation in Advanced Technologies (NIAT) lies in a few questions that students should ask:
Apply for B.E at East Point College of Engineering and Technology | Affiliated to VTU | AICTE Approved | NBA Accredited | Highest CTC 33 LPA
A Hero Group Initiative | Up to 100% Scholarships | Highest CTC 59.35 LPA | Average CTC 8.6 LPA | Accepts JEE Score | Application Closing Soon!
Before enrolling, students should ask are they paying the university or the NxtWav?. This question is relevant because if someone pays directly to an official university, their fees go directly to the university. In case something goes wrong, the university is officially accountable and government regulators.
If someone pays the edtech company instead, they might lose a lot of leverage. In case of any dispute like bad teaching and learning experience or refund issues, the company is responsible. So, students keep in mind before enrolling, who are they paying, the university or NxtWave.
Students must ask: are they studying in a university-owned campus or an edtech company ecosystem? Studying in a non-university campus can lead to a lack of university experience and legal accountability.
If things go wrong, who is answerable to you? This is crucial because many EdTech companies operate in a grey area. In simple terms, if you do not get your promised degree or the promised job placements, who is to blame exactly: Is the university or the company?
Students also must identify what they want: a learning and skill guarantee, a job or placement guarantee, or a guarantee on the degree or credential? In this case, NIAT is the best option because you will develop skills to find employment.
NIAT stands for NxtWave of Innovation in Advanced Technologies and it is not a college or a university. This means NIAT cannot give you a degree on its own.
NIAT is an industry-focused upskilling program that provides students with modern, job-ready tech skills. Their upskilling training program runs inside more than 25 UGC-approved partner universities across India. NIAT courses are offered in high-demand, advanced domains, such as AI/ML, Robotics, Data Science and more.
NxtWave offers a B.Tech programme through its partner university campuses pan-India. The B.Tech degree is awarded solely by the respective collaborating university. NxtWave's trainers, mentors, and success coaches deliver the industry-aligned curriculum inside the university campus.
This means, NxtWave operates on an ‘Embedded University Model’, where students get a valid degree plus top-tier industry skills simultaneously.
NxtWave offers three kinds of programmes.
1. NIAT — B.Tech Program (NxtWave of Innovation in Advanced Technologies)
NIAT is a 4-year B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) programme specialising in AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science. The programme is offered at more than 20 partner university campuses pan-India. Students will get NIAT upskilling alongside the degree from day one.
2. CCBP 4.0 Academy (Post 12th / College Students)
NxtWave has CCBP 4.0 Academy for students who are currently studying in a college and wishing to build tech skills.
3. NxtWave Intensive (6-Month Job Program)
NxtWave offers a 6-Month NxtWave Intensive job program in both online and offline mode.

On March 27, 2026, the University Grants Commission (UGC) released an official regulatory notice against NIAT regarding the offering of degree programmes through collaboration mode with 25 UGC-recognised universities.
The UGC, in its notice, clearly stated that no university is permitted to offer its academic programmes through franchising arrangements, collaborations, or any other mode of association with private coaching institutions, or other entities in distance or online mode without the approval of the Commission.
This means that NxtWave of Institution Advanced Technology (NIAT) is not authorised to:
However, NxtWave has also clearly mentioned on its website that it is not a university and is an industry-focused upskilling program.
But the question arises if neither NxtWave nor the university will offer the degree, then who will give the degree to students. Do students take the risk of enrolling in NxtWave Institution of Advanced Technology (NIAT)?
As the B.Tech programmes at NxtWave are offered through partner universities, the fee varies according to the university.
Since the NIAT’s BTech programme started in 2023, students enrolled in this very first batch will graduate in 2027. The placement will happen in the fourth year. This means that no single student has been placed yet.
On its website, NxtWave has mentioned the placement data and students achievements.
The catch: NxtWave has multiple programmes. For example, CCBP 4.0 Academy and NxtWave Intensive. These are upskilling programmes and students get into these programmes to advance their careers and salaries. NxtWave has even given the disclaimer that “Outcomes are from multiple NxtWave programs (including online upskilling cohorts and placement support programs).”

This cannot be conflicted with the NxtWave four year programmes because the placement for these programmes has not yet started and not a single student has been placed.
What the NxtWave shows is the large-scale stats for the overall career outcomes:
1,200+ AI-powered projects built by learners
20+ startups launched
200+ NIATians securing internships with stipends
2,500+ total companies hiring from their platform

However, it also features the exact same disclaimer confirming these outcomes are from different NxtWave’s programmes.
NxtWave have shown Rs 2.87 Crore as internship stipends secured by NIATians. But it did not mention how many students secured internships and how much stipends they received.

Such claims without any explanation typically create misconceptions among students and keep them away from the reality.
Every month, more than 100 companies reach out to NxtWave for hiring. However, NxtWave does not guarantee a job or internships. Placement outcomes depend entirely on learner effort, skills, and performance.

This disclaimer by NxtWave makes it clear to those students who might think that they can get a job or internship by just joining the upskilling programme without making any learning efforts.
Admission to NxtWave of Innovation in Advanced Technologies (NIAT) is an online process. The admission process involves students’ registration, entrance test, counselling, seat allocation, and enrolment.
