To be eligible to apply for IIT Guwahati BSc (Hons.) admission 2026, aspirants need to meet the following eligibility criteria:
Must have passed the Class 12 examination or equivalent
Must have scored a minimum of 60% (overall / aggregate) from your country’s or province’s education board or a recognised University
Must have studied Mathematics as a compulsory subject at Class 12 or equivalent level
Applicants need to undertake an online qualifier test to qualify for the admission process.
A preparatory online course - Mathematics Essentials has been specifically designed to help applicants prepare for this test.

The merit list of applicants will be prepared using a composite score that will be based on their overall performance in Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, and the qualifier test.
Applicants will be notified of their composite score within 72 hours of taking the qualifier test.

Applicants will receive a direct admission into the programme if they were eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) in any year.
Applicants are not required to undertake the Mathematics Essentials online, and the qualifier test.
Applicants will receive an offer of admission after review of their application.
Candidates who are eligible for the programme can apply for admission online.
They will have to complete the application form
Pay the application fee of Rs 1,000 and submit with required documents before the application deadline.
The application will be reviewed by the admissions team at IIT Guwahati.
There are separate processes for applicants with a JEE (Advanced) registration and ones without it.
Applicants applying with JEE (Advanced) are not required to take any qualifier test.
They have to submit the application and upon review, if eligible, an offer of admission will be sent to them.
Applicants applying for admission without JEE (Advanced) will be required to take a qualifier test. This will be a basic mathematics test and they will have access to preparatory resources in the form of a course from IIT Guwahati.
Upon review of their application, IIT Guwahati will send a payment link of Rs 3,000 via email within a week of submitting the application.
After payment of the fee (Preparatory course and Qualifier test fee), candidates will be enrolled into the Mathematics Essentials Course.
The online course will be a 4-module-long mathematics preparatory course with a Mathematics aptitude test.
Once the course is completed, candidates will be able to select a date for them to appear for the qualifier test.

Candidates applying for IIT Guwahati BSc (Hons.) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme must follow the instructions given below:

Register on the admission portal by providing the name, email, and phone number. Only one registration per email ID is allowed.
Click the Get OTP button after entering your email. An OTP will be sent to validate your email.
Choose your nationality: Indian or International.
If Indian, validate your contact number using OTP (similar to email validation).
If International, provide your country code and a valid contact number.
Enter the captcha and click Signup.
Upon successful registration, login credentials will be emailed to you.
You can now login using your credentials through the portal.
Once the registration is completed, log in using the registered credentials
Fill up all the necessary fields
Click Submit after completing the form to proceed with an application fee of Rs 1,000.

Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU.
H.S.C. vocational examination.
A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the AIU to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.
In case the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
