Why IIT Bombay Requires a High GATE Score?

IIT Bombay offers several fields and admission to M.Tech programmes is through GATE for eligible categories. The institute's Academic Office confirms that GATE is the entrance examination for its MTech programmes. Competition can be high because students from different colleges and engineering backgrounds apply for the same programmes. The extent of shortlisting may depend on the number of applicants, seats available and demand on a discipline to discipline basis. Thus, the cutoff of last year helps in planning but should not be taken as a sure benchmark for the next admission cycle.

How to Target IIT Bombay Safe Score in GATE 2027?

Candidates are advised that rather than setting their preparation target exactly around previous cutoff, keep some margin above it. They have to start by identifying IIT Bombay programme they want to apply for and check which GATE paper is accepted. For example, if the previous minimum qualifying score for your programme is 500, crossing this should be treated as the minimum goal, not final target. A higher score gives them a better position when the institute shortlists candidates.
