    NIT Seat Matrix 2026 - JoSAA will upload the NIT 2026 seat matrix on the official website, josaa.nic.in. The seat details will be provided before the commencement of JoSAA counselling. Meanwhile, aspirants can refer to the previous year's seat matrix of NIT. It will provide an idea about the expected number of seats offered for different courses in the NITs. There are 32 National Institutes of Technology that accept the JEE Main exam.

    Admission Procedure to National Institutes of Technology

    Candidates who clear the JEE Main 2026 will be able to book a seat in NITs, provided that they satisfy teh 75% eligibility criteria. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authority responsible for conducting the process of registration and choice filling wherein candidates will be required to fill in their choice of courses and institutions while keeping in regard with the score and rank obtained in IIT JEE Mains 2026. This will be followed by counselling and allotment of seats to various institutes and also the NIT seat matrix 2026, depending upon the total number of seats available and the performance of candidates.

    There are a total of 32 NITs in India that are autonomous engineering institutes distributed in various cities across India. The NITs have been declared as institutes of national importance dedicated to technical learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There is one body called the National Institute of Technology Council that is specifically established to deal with the regulation of these NITs.
