There will not be any separate entrance exam for admission. The authorities will prepare the merit list for admission on the basis of the grades secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination. If candidates have scored marks then the marks will be converted to grade with the help of 9 point absolute scale.

Stream 1 - Diploma course in engineering and Technology
Stream 2: Diploma in Commercial Practice/Diploma in Computer Application and Business Management

Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institute that is located in the state or who are natives will be eligible to apply. Also, if the parent(s) of a candidate are employed with Central, State, Quasi-Government, or Public Sector undertakings in the state of Kerala will also be eligible to apply.
Candidates should be eligible for higher studies and should have passed SSLC/THSLC or an equivalent exam, with Mathematics, English and Science as compulsory subjects. Candidates who have earned eligibility for higher studies in their second attempt will not be eligible to apply.

Tentatively in the third week of June, admission authorities will release the provisional merit/rank list of Kerala Polytechnic admissions 2020. Authorities allow students to challenge the provisional rank list if they find any errors or mistakes in it and later, after considering all the challenges made by the candidates, the final rank list will be released tentatively in the last week of June. The Kerala Polytechnic 2020 rank list will be prepared on the basis of marks secured by candidates in SSLC/THSLC or equivalent Examination. The authorities will use the new system i.e the grading system and if candidates have passed class 12th in the old system then the marks obtained by them will be converted to 9 point absolute grade.
