Unlike other states, Tamil Nadu doesn’t conduct any special entrance examination for admissions into polytechnic colleges of Tamil Nadu. Candidates have to complete 10th or 10+2 to pursue polytechnic education in polytechnic colleges across Tamil Nadu. Based on the marks obtained in 12th mathematics and science subjects, students will be shortlisted and will be issued a ranking. There are a total of 479 Polytechnic Colleges in Tamilnadu. Candidates need to pass 10th class or 10+2 with Maths and science as compulsory subjects to pursue polytechnic courses in Tamilnadu. There is no particular exam for polytechnic courses in Tamil Nadu.
