About JEE Advanced 2024

JEE Advanced 2024 : IIT Madras commenced the JEE Advanced 2024 registration process on April 27, 2024. The authority activated the JEE Advanced 2024 registration link on the website, jeeadv.ac.in. JEE Advanced 2024 registration has been available online from 5 PM onwards. The last date for JEE Advanced registration is May 7, 2024. Aspirants must belong to the top 2,50,000 JEE Main qualifying group. The JEE advanced exam is scheduled to be held on May 26, 2024.

The authority released the JEE Advanced 2024 mock test on April 14, 2024. Candidates can access the JEE Advanced mock test pdf for paper 1 and paper 2 on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in. Previously, the JEE Advanced 2024 application form dates was April 21 to 30, 2024.

The authority has released JEE Advanced eligibility criteria and exam centres online along with the information brochure. IIT Madras has also announced the JEE Advanced 2024 registration dates on the official website Candidates can check the JEE Advanced exam date 2024 on the official website. JEE Advanced 2024 exam will be held in two shifts in online mode. IIT JEE Advanced exam shift 1 timing is from 09 AM to 12 PM while shift 2 will be conducted from 02:30 to 05:30 PM. Moreover, last year the authorities re-introduced the 75% in 12th eligibility criteria. Thus IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs aspirants have to secure a minimum of 75% marks in class 12.

The authorities will issue the JEE Advanced admit card 2024 to registered candidates. Candidates have to carry the JEE Advanced admit card to the exam centre. Moreover, candidates should check the JEE Advanced 2024 admit card to know the reporting time, gate closing time, exam centre name and much more. Applicants have to adhere to the JEE Advanced 2024 dress code and reach the exam centre at least 60 minutes before the commencement of the exam.

What is JEE Advanced exam?

JEE Advanced is the exam for admissions to the B.E / B.Tech , Integrated Master’s, and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all participating institutions. JEE Advanced entrance exam is jointly organized by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee.

Admission to IITs is through counselling conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). JEE Advanced exam is the annual national-level entrance examination that is conducted to provide IIT admissions to all eligible candidates. Candidates have to attempt both Paper I and Paper II to be included in the JEE Advanced rank list . Allotment into the participating institutes is done through JoSAA on the basis of the candidate’s rank, preferences, and availability of seats.

JEE Advanced AAT

JEE Advanced Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2024 will be conducted in offline mode for B.Arch admissions into the participating institutes. Registrations will be open for the eligible candidates and the candidates will have to select their preferred centre for examination. All candidates need to have qualified in the JEE Advanced 2024 examination. At the exam centre, the candidates will have to produce their JEE Advanced 2024 admit card.

JEE Advanced AAT 2024 will assess the candidate’s perception, drawing, awareness about Architecture and more. Candidates who manage to secure within the cutoff will have to participate in the counselling process conducted by JoSAA. Allotment of seats will be done according to the performance of the candidates in the examination.

IIT Madras released the JEE Advanced 2024 eligibility criteria along with the official brochure. The JEE Advanced eligibility criteria 2024 includes the conditions and requirements that every candidate has to fulfil to be eligible to appear in the exam and take part in the admission process. Candidates who are found ineligible will be disqualified from JEE Advanced 2024 admission.

Age Limit

General category candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1994. Relaxation of 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD category.

Qualifying Examination

A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023 or 2024 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates who had appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination, for the first time in 2022 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2024

Number of Attempts

For JEE Advanced, the candidates can attempt the exam two times in two consecutive years.

IIT Admissions

The candidates should have never taken admission in an IIT irrespective of whether they continued the programme or not or just accepted the seat by reporting at the centre. The candidates who have earlier joined any IIT but had subsequently cancelled their admission will also not be termed eligible for JEE Advanced.

JEE Main

The candidates should have qualified the JEE Main examination and must be in the top 2,50,000 candidates in order of merit. The cutoff for admissions into IITs should also be met by the candidates. Overall 10% general EWS category candidates will be shortlisted, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the remaining 40.5% is OPEN for all. The category distribution of top 250000 candidates is given in the table below.

JEE Advanced AAT Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates willing to appear for the JEE Advanced AAT exam 2024 have to meet certain criteria as prescribed by the authorities. Firstly, the candidates should have attempted and qualified for the JEE Advanced 2024 examination. Candidates must have secured the required cutoff to have higher chances of admission.

The authorities has commenced the JEE Advanced 2024 application form on April 27, 2024. The application form for JEE Advanced has been released on jeeadv.ac.in. The authority has announced the JEE Advanced 2024 registration date on the official website. Candidates seeking BTech admission in IITs are required to apply and appear for JEE Advanced exam 2024. Candidates have to register and fill out the application form consisting the personal, academic, educational, and communication information. Also, students have to pay the application fee in online mode. The steps to fill out the JEE Advanced 2024 application form are provided below.

How to fill JEE Advanced Application Form 2024?

Registration – Firstly, candidates have to use their JEE Main 2024 roll number and password to log in. The details of candidates will be automatically added to the portal.

Uploading of Documents – Next, the candidates have to add the required documents and upload them as per the specifications mentioned by the authorities. The required documents are class 10 certificate/birth certificate, class 12 mark sheet, and category certificate (if applicable).

Application fee payment – Candidates have to pay the registration fee in online mode through net banking/credit card/debit card or offline mode (cash using SBI option). The fee is different as per the category that the candidate belongs to.

Submission and Print Out of Confirmation Page – Finally, the candidates have to submit the application form and print out the confirmation page for further reference.

JEE Advanced AAT Application Form 2024

Candidates who qualify the JEE Advanced 2024 exam and are willing to take admission in architecture courses in IITs have to appear for the Architecture Aptitude Test. The application form of JEE Advanced AAT will be released in online mode by the admission authorities. It is to be noted that only those candidates who qualify the JEE Advanced 2024 will be able to fill the application form.

Registration Steps for JEE Advanced AAT 2024

  • Candidates will have to visit the JEE Advanced 2024 candidate portal for AAT and enter their JEE Advanced 2024 registration number, date of birth, mobile number and email address, the candidates would have to log in to register for the examination.

  • For the question “Are you Interested in AAT 2024?”, the candidates will have to select their option of “Yes” or “No”.

  • Exam centres have to be selected according to the candidate’s choice (International centres will not be applicable)

  • Candidates have to enter various details as required to be submitted.

  • After checking all of the details, the candidates have to submit the application form.

JEE Advanced Rank list 2024

The authorities will release the JEE Advanced 2024 rank list at jeeadv.ac.in. The list of candidates who will qualify JEE Advanced will be mentioned in the rank list of JEE Advanced 2024. To check the JEE Advanced rank, the candidates have to log in using their JEE Advanced application number and date of birth. Only qualified candidates is listed in the JEE Advanced rank list 2024. In case of similar JEE Advanced 2024 results for two or more candidates, a tie-breaking policy will be adopted.

The authorities will release the JEE Advanced 2024 cutoff along with the declaration of result. Candidates will be able to access the JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 from the website - jeeadv.ac.in. The cutoff for JEE Advanced 2024 acts as the screening process for inclusion in the rank list and for admission to the IITs. There are two types of cutoffs – qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff. The qualifying cutoff of JEE Advanced 2024 consists of the minimum marks that the candidates have to secure to be listed out in the rank list. The admission cutoff is the minimum rank that the candidates will have to secure to have higher chances of admissions into the participating institutes. The cutoff will be different as per the category, course, and institute selected by the candidates.

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for conducting the counselling for admission of JEE Advanced qualified candidates. The authorities will announce the counselling dates for admission into IITs in coordination with the IITs and their seat matrix at josaa.nic.in. The authorities will release the JoSAA 2024 seat allotment phase wise on its official website. Candidates will have to register and complete the choice filling of colleges and courses for the JoSAA 2024 counselling and seat allotment process. Candidates will be allotted seats into the participating IITs according to their secured ranks, preferences and availability of seats.

You qualify for the JEE Advanced exam, with this year's cutoff set at 45. Ensure you have your caste certificate ready as it may be required later during JOSAA. Since your marks are close to the cutoff, I recommend dedicating yourself to preparation to successfully pass the Advanced exam.

Candidates must clear JEE Main (Paper 1) and rank within the top 2,50,000 candidates. Additionally, there are percentage reservations for various categories as follows:


GEN-EWS: 10%

OBC-NCL: 27%

SC: 15%

ST: 7.5%

OPEN: 40.5%

PwD: 5% horizontal reservation across all the aforementioned categories.
