Students aspiring for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad will have to qualify for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam. The process of admission will be administered by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), which is the official counselling authority for admission in all the IITs. Students have to register online for JoSAA 2026, which will open after the announcement of JEE Advanced Result. Students also have to make choices of colleges and courses as per their preference. The allotment of seats will be done through an online process by JoSAA based on ranks in JEE Advanced.

A Preparatory rank of 137 in JEE advanced 2026 does not directly guarantee admission to an IIT. preparatory course seats are offered to certain category candidate who made the eligibility condition prescribed by the IIT's. Admission depends on your category, availability of preparatory seat and the counselling

The choice is a matter of your career prospects, rather than Institute prestige, as both IITs are among the top engineering
