    Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria of IIT Kharagpur M.Tech admission 2026 before filling out the application form. Candidates seeking admission should meet all the conditions and requirements specified by the authorities.

    Admission channel

    Candidates seeking admission through GATE should have a valid score. A GATE score of 2023/2024/2026 is valid.

    IIT Graduates

    Candidates who have completed their graduation from any of the IITs will be eligible for direct admissions without even appearing for GATE. Such candidates should have scored a CGPA or CPI of 8 or above at their undergraduate level.

    Qualifying exam

    Candidates should have secured at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 pointer scale in the qualifying examination.

    Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD categories are required to score 55% or 6 CGPA.

    IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Application Form 2026

    IIT Kharagpur will announce the dates for the MTech applications on the official website. Applicants have to ensure that all the details mentioned in the form are correct. It should be noted that candidates will also have to register through COAP.

    Steps to fill IIT Kharagpur M.Tech 2026 Application Form

    Candidates can refer to the IIT Kharagpur 2026 M.Tech application process for reference purposes here-

    Step 1 - Registration: Candidates will have to register using the details like email id, password, GATE 2026 registration number, date of birth, category, and more.

    Step 2 - Filling the application form: Candidates will have to log in to the account using the credentials. After a successful login, the step will be filling out all the required details such as name, contact number, qualifying degree scores etc.

    Step 3 - Uploading documents: After submitting all the details, candidates will have to next upload the following documents in the specified format.

    • Qualifying degree certificate.

    • Passport size photograph.

    • Signature.

    • Category Certificate (if applicable).

    • Caste Certificate (if applicable).

    • PwD Certificate (if applicable).

    • Certificate showing proof of having Mathematics at class 12 or degree level (wherever applicable).

    Step 5 - Print out of the application form: Finally, after successful payment, candidates should take a printout of the filled application form for future references.

    IIT Kharagpur M.Tech 2026 Selection Process

    The institute offers admission to candidates on the basis of GATE score 2026. The allotment of seats is done through COAP counselling 2026. Students will be required to check the COAP portal as per the seat allotment schedule to check the allotment status. The authorities can also conduct an interview or written test of the candidates along with considering the GATE score. In such cases, 70% weightage will be given to GATE 2026 score and the remaining 30% weightage will be given to interview or written test. A personal interview will be conducted to test the following:

    • Motivation and aptitude for the Programme.

    • Suitability for the department/centre, and

    • Skills in basic science, engineering, and relevant areas.
