There are some specific eligibility requirements that dropper candidates are advised to follow for admission. Below is the eligibility criteria for government and private engineering colleges for droppers 2026:
IITs/NITs: For general category, applicants should meet the 75% aggregate in class 12th in five subjects from a recognised board. Or a candidate should be in the top 20 percentiles of that board. Dropper's percentage for class 12th will be taken for 2026 and 2025. Categories like SC/ST/PwD droppers must qualify class 12th with 65% aggregate or equivalent top 20 percentilers.
Private Engineering Colleges: For this, candidates can either apply to JEE Main rank or should give the respective entrance test for admission.The eligibility percentage can vary between 60-75% in class 12th board for private colleges.
