Documents Required for JEE Mains Registration 2026 - The National Testing Agency released the revised list of JEE Main 2026 registration documents on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The dimensions for the JEE Main 2026 documents have been updated. This year, in addition to the photo, signature, and class 10th marksheet, a soft copy of the Identity card (if not using Adhaar or Digitlocker) must be uploaded. Candidates also have the option to provide a UDID card or Disability certificate (only if applicable). JEE Main 2026 aspirants are advised to update the Aadhaar card details to match the Class 10 certificate, including name, date of birth, photograph, address, and father's name. Candidates must complete the JEE Main 2026 registration by November 27, 2025.

List of Documents Required for JEE Main Registration

The National Testing Agency released the list of JEE Mains 2026 registration documents required. The complete specifications and format is announced with the JEE Main information bulletin. During the application process, candidates have to upload scanned images of their photographs and signatures. Additionally, candidates from reserved categories (Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) have to provide their category number. However, they are not required to upload any scans of the Category certificate during the application. Candidates applying under PwD are an exception to this rule, as they should upload their disability certificate during the application process.

Documents required for JEE Mains 2026 for OBC

The authority has specified that candidates need not upload the caste certificate at the time of registration. However, applicants have to fill in the category number, issue date and the name of the issuing authority. This means that the caste certificate remains a document required for JEE Mains registration; however, it is not necessary to upload the document separately.

Candidates have to fill in certain mandatory details in the JEE Main application form 2026. The details required to fill the JEE Main 2026 application form are as follows:

  • Valid email and mobile number for NTA messages.
  • For the JEE Main application, a scanned copy of the Class 10 certificate or equivalent certificate/marks-sheet needs to be uploaded (10 kb to 200 kb).
  • A scanned copy of identity proof, if applicants want to verify their identities through methods other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker. (10 kb to 200 kb).
  • Upload clear scanned copies of your recent photograph and signature.
  • For OBC-NCL/EWS candidates, fill in the certificate's category number, issue date and the name of the issuing authority (uploading the certificate is not required).
  • PwD/PwBD candidates must upload a scanned copy of the certificate (50 kb to 300 kb).
  • A recent passport-sized photograph in colour with 80% face visibility and a white background (JPG/JPEG between 10 kb and 200 kb).
  • Keep details ready for net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI for fee payment.

Currently, there is no official release of JEE Mains 2026 registration begin. But on an average, every year there will be 11 Lakh to 12.5 Lakh students register

If you belong to the BC (Backward Class) category, you can choose OBC-NCL in JEE Mains only if your caste is included in the Central OBC list released by the Government of India.

Here’s how it works:

  • Central OBC list: Used for national-level exams like JEE, NEET, UPSC, etc.

  • State BC list: Used only for state-level admissions or jobs.

So, if your BC caste name is in the Central list, select OBC–NCL while filling the JEE form.
If your caste is not in the Central list, choose General category, because the state BC certificate won’t be valid for JEE.

Example:
If you’re BC in Tamil Nadu but your caste isn’t in India’s Central list, you’ll be counted as General for JEE.

No, it’s not compulsory to fill the APAAR ID in the JEE Main application form right now.

If your APAAR ID shows a “credential mismatch” error even after entering the correct number, don’t worry, you can simply leave it blank and continue filling the form.

  • The APAAR ID field is optional for most students.

  • It’s mainly for linking your academic records under the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system.

  • The mismatch often happens if your Aadhaar details or school record name format differ.

So, you can submit your JEE form without the APAAR ID, and it won’t affect your application.
