In the top 100 engineering institutions across India, National Institute Ranking Framework 2023 included six institutes from Punjab. A staggering 97.82 per cent of students graduated from these institutions in 2021-22. Out of them, 68.83 per cent secured jobs through campus placements, while 13.65 per cent pursued higher education. Those who secured placements received a median average salary of Rs 9.7 lakhs per annum.

Top Engineering Colleges Of Punjab

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, and Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, boast a remarkable graduation rate of 100 per cent. This may be attributed to lateral entry admissions,

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, leads in terms of the highest percentage of students placed, while Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, and Chandigarh University, Mohali, recorded the lowest placement percentages, both falling below 70 per cent.

For Punjab's top engineering colleges, the average placement rate stands at 68.83 per cent. Although this is higher than Telangana, it lags behind Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

Colleges from Delhi showed the highest placement with 87.24 per cent, followed by Maharashtra and UP with 85.68 and 85.05 per cent respectively and Tamil Nadu with 78.22. Punjab and Karnatka’s colleges placed less than 72 per cent.

These averages are based on the total number of students graduating and not the total enrollment.
