Postgraduate level
Completing a Postgraduate course in engineering results in achieving a Master of Engineering (M.E.) or Master of Technology (MTech) degree. It is a 2-years course that one can pursue after completing a 4-year undergraduate program in engineering (BTech) and is used to specialize within an engineering branch or field. M.E/MTech are considered to be parallel to MPhil and M.S degrees in Humanities and Science respectively.
PhD Level
PhD in engineering-Doctoral of Philosophy in Engineering (PhD) is the advanced research course in engineering. Students are required to submit a thesis proposal during the admission procedures. The course duration varies from college to college, usually between 3-5 years.
Diploma courses
Candidates can pursue a diploma in engineering after class 10th or 12th. It is a professional course which is a total of 3 years of duration. After completing a degree in Diploma, the candidates can directly join BTech as lateral entries in the second year which collectively takes them 6 years to complete their engineering (3 years diploma + 3 years B. Tech).
The courses in the diploma are the same as the courses in UG.
Certificate courses

For Undergraduate courses
Admissions to BTech courses in India are conducted through national (JEE Mains, JEE Advanced), state (KCET, COMEDK UGET) or university/institute level (PESSAT, MU OET) entrance examinations. Deemed universities conduct their respective entrance examinations to shortlist students. Every year, these examinations are conducted in March and April.
For Postgraduation courses
Admission into different MTech Courses are completed based on the performance of the candidates in state or national-level postgraduate engineering entrance exams (PGCET).
Candidates who secure qualifying marks in the entrance exams have to appear for counselling and personal interview rounds to evaluate the technical skills of the students.
Final selection is done based on marks in MTech entrance exam as well as personal interview.
For PhD - The basic eligibility to pursue this course is to hold a PG degree with at least 50% from a recognized institution in India under any allied Engineering branch.
For Diploma courses
Candidates aspiring for Polytechnic admission in Mysore will have to apply online, and the DTE Karnataka will release a merit list based on the candidates applied. Then through the counselling process, the candidates will be allotted to colleges correspondingly.

Yes. The directorate of technical education, Karnataka conducts a state level entrance exam KCET and COMEDK for B.E. admission. Some colleges also accept JEE main/advanced score
2) What is the Selection Process for the Government Engineering Colleges in Mysore
As the Engineering colleges accept both KCET and COMEDK UGET, the concerned authorities will conduct the centralized counselling for all candidates. The candidates will be shortlisted for counselling based on their respective rank in the test.
