Admission to the IIT Mandi MTech programs is competitive and based on specific eligibility requirements set by the institute. IIT graduates with an 8.0 CGPA can get direct admission in IIT Mandi.

The application form for the M.Tech program for the 2026-27 session will be available soon on the official website. Candidates are advised to submit the application form before the deadline. Candidates need to register on COAP before filling out the application, as they will need to provide their COAP ID during the application process. Below is a detailed process on how to fill out the application form correctly.
Step 1: Visit the official website and register yourself by creating an ID and password.
Step 2: Now log in to the IIT Mandi admission portal and start filling out the application form by providing personal and academic details. Candidates also need to fill in the COAP ID and GATE scores while filling in the details.
Step 3: Pay the application fee through credit/debit card or net banking.
Step 4: Submit your form.
Before applying for IIT Mandi M.Tech 2026, candidates must complete the COAP 2026 registration. This is compulsory for admission to IIT Mandi M.Tech. Then, they can participate in GATE counselling:
Only candidates who have qualified for GATE in 2024, 2025, or 2026 and want to apply for M.Tech at any participating institute or PSU job can register on COAP 2026.

When candidates try to change category from GEN to OBC-NCL during the GATE correction window, the system checks required fields and sometimes a supporting certificate or fee is needed. Explain to them that first they should log into the GATE portal, open the Correction tab and confirm which fields are editable and whether a payment or document upload is required for category change. The GATE 2026 Agricultural Engineering (AG) paper will have a total of 100 marks. Out of this, 15 marks are for General Aptitude and 85 marks are for core Agricultural Engineering subjects.
The marks are generally distributed among major topics like Engineering Mathematics (12–13 marks), Farm Machinery (10–11), Farm Power (14–15), Soil & Water Conservation (12–13), Irrigation & Drainage (10–12), Agricultural Process Engineering (10–12), and Dairy & Food Engineering (9–10 marks).
The official qualifying marks for GATE 2026 are not yet released. However, based on previous years, the cutoff for the Agricultural Engineering paper is expected to be around 25 marks for General, 22.5 for OBC/EWS, and 16.6 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
