IIT Bombay M.Tech Admission 2026 - Registration, Test Date, Eligibility, Document Verification
IIT Bombay M.Tech Admission 2026 - IIT Bombay will soon release the notification for the IIT Bombay MTech admission on its official website, iitb.ac.in. The institute will commence the IIT Bombay MTech registration process in March 2026, tentatively. Note that students must register on the GATE COAP as well. Basic eligibility conditions is the that candidates must have cleared BTech and provide their GATE score. Further, IIT Bombay may conduct a written test and/ or an interview for the MTech entrance. Overall, seventeen MTech programs are available at the institute. Aspirants can check the IIT Bombay GATE cutoff 2026 to predict the minimum scores required to get MTech admission based on the previous year's data. IIT Bombay M.Tech Admission 2026 Process
Admission to the M.Tech course at IIT Bombay is offered based on the GATE scorecard 2026. To be considered for admission, students must clear the GATE exam. Apart from GATE scores, admissions into some courses are also done based on separate written tests and/or personal interviews. The detailed IIT Bombay M.Tech admission process is as follows:
Step 1 - Register for COAP
Step 2 - Fill the online application form of IIT Bombay M.Tech 2026 admission (will require COAP registration number)
Step 3 - Check allotment status as per the COAP seat allotment schedule
Step 4 - Login to IIT Bombay candidate portal for admission status/ schedule of written test and/or interview
Step 5 - Complete the further admission process as per instructions from IIT Bombay portal
IIT Bombay M.Tech Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for M.Tech admission at IIT Bombay, candidates need to fulfill the IIT Bombay M.Tech eligibility criteria 2026 specified by the authorities. Ineligible candidates will not be offered admission. Students can check the eligibility criteria mandated by the institute for admission to the M.Tech course.
Must have passed B.Tech or its equivalent degree from any recognized institute
Secured 60% marks in aggregate in their qualifying degree (55% for candidates of reserved category)
Candidates appearing in the final year of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply for IIT Bombay M.Tech admission

Candidates having the qualifying degree from any Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will be eligible for direct admission without having to appear for GATE. Such students will however be required to appear for the institute-level written test and/or personal interview if admission is desired in TA/ TAP /FA /RA /RAP /PS /IS /SW courses.

For Applying Based on GATE
Step 1 - Registration for Common Offer Admission Portal (COAP) - This is the foremost and mandatory step to be considered for IIT Bombay M.Tech admission 2026. candidates will next have to register for the Common Offer Admission Portal (COAP). They will have to fill in choices of colleges and specializations while filling the registration form for GATE COAP 2026. The COAP ID is required for filling out the IIT Bombay MTech application form.
Step 2- Registration- After the COAP registration, candidates will have to register on the IIT Bombay admission portal by entering certain basic information and proceed to provide the COAP ID.
Step 3- Filling GATE score card details- Next step is to provide all the details as per the GATE scorecard and submit
For Applying Without a Valid GATE Score or for IIT B.tech Degree Holder
Step 1- Registration- Candidates will have to register on the IIT Bombay admission portal by entering certain basic information.
Step 2- Login and choose the Non GATE/IIT Btech option.
Filling Online IIT Bombay MTech Application Form
The following steps have to be followed.
Login using the registration number and password to fill the application form. Fill choices in courses for which admission is desired
Upload scanned images of passport-size coloured photographs and signature
Payment of application fees
Finally submit the application form and take a print of the system-generated filled form. Candidates need not send the hard copy of the form to IIT Bombay office

Checking IIT Bombay MTech Seat Allotment
Candidates who have applied based on GATE will have to check the allotment status in COAP and IIT Bombay admission portal as per the schedule of seat allotment. Students who are allotted any seat through COAP will have to confirm the admission by online accepting the allotted seat. Students who have applied for courses in which a written test and/or interview is required will have to appear for further admission process as per the schedule.
IIT Bombay M.Tech Admission 2026: Written Test
Candidates looking for IIT Bombay M.Tech 2026 admission through a written test/interview must appear for it. The schedule for the written test and/or interview has been released by each department in their respective portal. Every shortlisted applicant must appear in the test on the provided date and time. Students have to qualify the test with minimum qualifying marks decided by the institute to be considered for admission to IIT Bombay.

Candidates can check the result of IIT Bombay M.Tech admission test in online mode. The institute will release a PDF mentioning the list of selected candidates and informing the further admission process that needs to be followed. Students having their names on the list will be required to confirm their admission by paying seat acceptance fees in online mode.
IIT Bombay M.Tech Cutoff 2026
The minimum GATE score required for admission to IIT Bombay M.Tech courses is available in the form of cutoff. IIT Bombay will release the cutoff for every course and category under which the institute will offer admission. Candidates having the minimum cutoff marks will only be considered for admission to IIT Bombay.
